Kanthal an silica

Hello all am going to get into rebuilding and was wondering if anyone had any suggestion on where to buy Kanthal and silica from.

Also I know nothing about Kanthal or silica so was wondering if anyone could also explain the meaning of gauges with Kanthal is it like the thickness of it?

I get all my supplies from a wire and wick wholesaler... FiVapes Supply. Doesn't mean it's thee place to buy, it just works well for me. There are lots of vendors... maybe even the one you use now.

Yes... it's the thickness.

Here's a handy little chart of "ohms per inch" for Kanthal A1. Gives you a ballpark idea of what to expect with various sizes of wire. Mostly, we use 28, 30 & 32... but some play with the larger and smaller wire. (These values are rounded to the tenth of an Ω)

28 awg (Ω/in) 0.4 ohms
30 awg (Ω/in) 0.7 ohms
31 awg (Ω/in) 0.9 ohms
32 awg (Ω/in) 1.2 ohms
33 awg (Ω/in) 1.4 ohms
34 awg (Ω/in) 1.8 ohms

I buy from here Zivipf Onlineshop. I dont want to use the cheapest crap China makes especially for my wicks. Im not discounting States vendor Ive never used them just throwing out the vendor I trust.
