Kat's Kalamari Klub open yet - or is it too early?

Ordered my 1st Double Barrel v3 yesterday, as did a couple others here, and I can't wait till it gets here. But patiently wait I shall. I don't think the coded price can be beat - DBV3. Been looking at Squid mods since v2. The simplicity factor in addition to the K.I.S.S. principle wins out. I really like the improvements Eric made on the v3 as noted in vaping Insider's YT vid.

Guess what? I just got back from Saint Alfonzo's pancake breakfast. FYI it's over by the city of tiny lites. Muffin man was there as was Big Swifty and Bobby Brown too. A rather interesting blinged-out lady read 'The Adventures of Greggery Peccary" during breakfast after which I thought I might be moving to Montana soon just to be a dental floss tycoon. This might make me a trend monger…aw…but hey, on the way I could make the journey to Utopia with a detour to pickup Midworld on way.

Got a "Winner" token for the first person who provides the single initials of the one referenced above without any searching! This ought to be very easy for some.

FZ, or course, of FVZ is you want the middle name. I saw him win the World Gross Out Championship at Armadillo World Headquarters in... '77, I think. Among other times and places.

And yes, we are open for business.

Drum roll please ---> we have a Winner!!!

Awesome, I too have seen Frank Zappa every time he came around. Such an awesome guitarist too. One show everyone left the stage except for Frank, the drummer and bass player - Frank sat on a barstool and they just jammed for a good 15-20 minutes.

Side note: My wife got booted from a Frank concert once for something she said to one of the beer selling vendors who was only helping the guys. I can't repeat what she said here. That was back in the non-PC days. She offered to go get beers for a group of us and never came back. None of us were too concerned as she could handle herself quite nicely. Found her in the van after the show. She said two bouncers escorted her out - she was just a little 5' 3" thing - 2 bouncers = overkill, but she could be rather feisty. We all had a good laugh over that.

Hi folks,

DPLongo22 ---> Frank gets very healthy airplay in my house. Montana is one of my favorites. In fakt I have it on now..."just to be a dental floss tycoon". He was taken waaaaay too soon.

Ok, so I received my Double Barrel on the 22nd and LOVE it. I use it every day in rotation with others that I don't want to feel neglected. They get funny that way, as all of you know well. I kan see getting another in the future. I love minimalist design and thus that of DB.
IMG_0594 - cr.jpg

I've always been a single 18650 kind of guy...but thought I'd drop out of my komfort zone and try a dual 18650 mod. And I am really happy I did. :p

I do have a question. Upon my first vape w/the DB, and all since, I do notice a more "robust" hit. I do have a thought on that but I honestly don't know why for certain. However I will offer my thoughts.

My thinking goes along the lines of....

2 18650's = double the power and less of a voltage drop (???) = more sustained power. Am I getting warm? I kind of liken it to a 4cyl versus an 8cyl auto.

Well that is the extent of my thinking....I do have to monitor brain cell use!

I would love to hear your opinions/knowledge please. Thanks...

Wait, all of a sudden 3 new questions... When are drinks served? And dinner? One more, does the Klub have live music?

Thanks all :thumb:

Yes, absolutely, I will lead the show and bring real musicians...

I'll pass on the karaoke/live music thing. It is generally considered a public service when I don't sing in public.

On the dual vs single battery thing, this seems doubtful. When using a regulated mod, it's best to think of it having two separate circuits. The power circuit includes the batteries and the front half of the board, and the firing circuit is the back half of the board and the atomizer. In general, the back half of the board doesn't care where the power comes from, so long as it has enough. And the batteries don't care how many watts you're putting on the atty. All they see is the amp draw at whatever their native voltage at the time may be.

The job of the board is to make both of these things work at the same time. A good board-- the DB has a good board-- shouldn't care about voltage sag (within its limits of the possible), because it compensates for battery vs atty voltage in real time anyway.

I am not saying you're wrong, SMT. I said unlikely, not impossible. But it shouldn't work that way. It's not supposed to.

Suprtrkr, thanks for the solid explanation. I understand exactly what you said. Perhaps it is only my experience that when taking a hit that it feels more robust with the DB.

I'm doing a side-by-side with a JacVapour Series-B DNA 75 using the identical atty on each mod both with same coil setup. A hit off the DB just feels more robust in comparison. Both in wattage mode. 3-4 second hits. I've tried this with other mods besides the Jac and my result is the same.

In all honesty it is no big deal either way. I was curious.

Thanks again

Any time, not that I'm sure it was helpful. If it feels like you're getting a better hit off the DB, then I say hit the DB and enjoy :)

Nice to still see some original JACs in use too (VERY glad you're happy with the DB too, @ShowMeTwice !). I'm still more of a fan of the original 22mm version (than the later Sandstorms), and mine get a lot of use.

Either way, nice mods!

When the drinks start flowing, keep your eyes on Kat. If she switches from wine to vodka, there's almost sure to be a table dance (NOT to be confused with a lap dance) in the coming hours. ;)

Crank up the tunes!!! :headbang:

I got my Squid V3 yesterday it was a long, strange journey but it is here. Champaign Silver. I was a bit freaked out about the battery door, but it does seem to be working.

So there's that. That sucker is HEAVY. I have isolated it from my other mods because it is so DENSE. I mean, it could start the mod cascade to end all mod cascades, culminating in breaking my coffee table in two.

I really like the vape. I really like the hand feel (but I like heavy mods) and it's just all around quite lovely. I'm glad I got one. If it really holds up I would consider a second.

There's nothing like a vape that doesn't make you feel GUILTY for not doing TC with it.

I am sticking to drop in coil tanks for now I am a bit leery....

I hope so. LOL the battery door (laying open and unused) still reminded me of like, a Veteran with PTSD designing a mod and his pals were like, "Duuude, you have to fix this battery door MORE it's still a piece of crap," and the vet like leaves the room cursing loudly and then goes and gets drunk until finally his pals are like, "Sigh, let's just send it to China."

It's hard to imagine a battery door being worse (heh, maybe the Steampunk Nano, which I also love but MAN) what is it with battery doors anyway this should not be so hard. Etc. But they always are.

Anyway though, once I dealt with its foibles it seems to be working so no complaints. For now.

Anna

ETA yea that avatar was s couple years old, this is the elderly grey haired version of me. LOL

Welcome to the club, Anna. I didn't recognize you either. But that's OK. Looks to me like you've got some catching up to do in the elderly and grey haired thing, compared to me :)

Love it.

Here are a couple of popular ones, which the Squiddies mostly like when they're being all topical and what-not. ;)
