Flat-top 18650 2900mah, and the 18350 .... there is a screw coming down from the top-cap into the batt compartment that is sticking way out .... should I screw that up/in a bit?

Maybe a rare earth magnet on top of your Batt ? are they not making contact Blue ? if not that would do it possibly

k just looked at mine......#1 and #2 and the screw is also protruding a bit.

take the short tube off
make sure the bottom is screwed in...the button end
drop a battery in the short tube....an 18350 ... so the positive end is up...negative end is at the bottom...button end

does the battery extend above the tubes upper rim?

if not..your ok

screw the assembled lower section onto the upper section.....slowly until you feel it snug up...you should be ok.....

Ok - this is how far the 18350 is sitting in the tube, and pic #2 is the screw coming down from the top-cap .... you can click on these to make them bigger ....

this is the bottom..that is the negative end of the battery...yes??
take the tub off the top end...just the tube....and screw in the bottom piece..the button
Now just with the tube and button attached drop in the battery............does the battery extend above the rim?

Taste is nasty though ...... I didn't rinse anything, I was afraid to break it, or maybe just having to break in ....

Did you boil the mesh?............there is clearly a metallic taste initially, that goes away pretty fast.......you can even accelerate the process by following lords instruction...inverting and holding the button down. ALSO I have found that because of my juice viscosity that by removing the fill screw the juice wicks much better.......I am now filling my Katana by inserting the fill needle through the wick's center instead of the fill hole......if I use the fill hole, juice is forced up through the wick with the air being displaced by the juice filling the tank....and it gets messy :(

:glare: couldn't resist could you! LoL

This is true...so I stand corrected, and will go back to my corner with my crow platter! :)

LOL, it's just something in my brain that snaps. It's like I turn into a savant for a minute or two at a time. I think I may be borderline something or other, but I just can't bring myself to go to the doctor to find out for sure :)

You can screw it in a little... It is a heavy gauge spring in there so if you tourque too hard it will break. The screw goes in easy enough but does not come out so it will only go one way and if you go too far you will need spacers unless you take it completely apart to reset it. Take a pic of it and post it and I'll tell you if it is out too far. Mine are able to use 18650 and 18350 IMRs and 18650 2900MAH protected cells but there is the possibility that it needs to be screwed in a little.

That looks to be OK. You can unscrew the tube a little to get enough room to put the button on then tighten everything up. Again, inside the cap is a spring so it has some give, just not a whole lot. :)

Yes, this is the break-in. To get through it really fast use my "Turn and Burn" method.

Tip the Katana almost completely upside down and then fire the button. Keep it pressed till juice starts to drip from the wick with the button pressed. You should now have a really good wicking and seasoned coil/mesh combo that will last a good long time and any minor shorts should have corrected themselves in the process. The taste and vapor production should be at near 100% at this point too. You may only have 5 or 6 puffs left of break-in time at this point, but typically for me it is all done after that.
