As many of you know I spent over 27 years as a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and even though I'm not active in it anymore I still like to pass along info that helps people and wild babies.

This time of year is when wild mammals start having babies. Birds come a little later.

I dont know what the rules are here about FB, but if you look up my first name and avatar you can access the public portion with a lot of great info about wildlife you might encounter. And you can always PM me.

Bea, the only wildlife I encounter here in my neck of the woods are the visiting raccoon and a skunk that likes to try and sneak up on Bear at the back of the house. So far I've been lucky in that it sprays back there(you can smell it in the bathroom) but Bear hasn't been sprayed yet!

Just bottled up 3 bourbon barrels. Made 3 more. Welp - I'm almost out of flavorings and base!

I picked up a few barrels from a place called Deep South Barrels. Been playing with this for about a year now. My favorite flavorings are a "Maker's Mark", a Rye, and "Southern Comfort". I did discover an apple and a "fireball" that aren't too bad. I just pulled those three, and the new batch is Makers, Rye, and the Fireball....

I use 40% everclear and 60% distilled water along with a flavoring bottle. Let it sit for at least a month. There are tastings in between

DSB is maybe 15 miles from me. They are in Pearland, just north of my town.
