Good morning!
I need some advice from the creative wood users. My old beagle that is half blind and almost deaf was tethered to a tree in my front yard. The tree came down day before yesterday. It fell on my carport. Minimal damage but now I'm minus an anchor for my sweet old puppy. I'm thinking of getting a treated 4x4 and cementing it back in the hole the tree left. Would that work? Any other wood suggestions? Right now she's tethered to trees at the edge of the yard but has no protection from rain. I have a dog house out there but she refuses to use it.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. Grab a bag of QuikCrete; set the post, dump the QC and add water. Have a smaller stick handy to "stir" (force the water down into the drier mix) You could then get a bolt anchor as a clip for the little gal's lead.

Would something like this work in your soil?

It "screws" into the ground, so you can put it where your need it, and move it as desired.

That would work here but the other end is tethered in a tree. This lead stretches across my entire front yard so she has a little bit of room to run.

That's what I was thinking too. I'd like to add a solar light to the top or like a lantern to put on the side.

I would prefer attaching the lead to something which does not protrude from the ground. I get angry when I see a dog with a very short lead because he has wound his lead around a tree. Of course, I think all dogs should be house-dogs.

Sorry for disappearing everyone... I'm still just trying to process and get through the days and nights... Love y'all!

I think sharing makes you feel less alone in your own suffering. Knowing there are others who feel as you do or have suffered as you have, makes you feel less isolated. You folks here are the kindest, most open hearted, loving people, and I see why Kaez loves you all so much!!!

That's exactly right, Hun. I've been coming to this thread for I don't even know how long now... Dinger invited me over a while back and it has just felt like "home" ever since. It's a place where each person supports the others in spite of whatever hardships they may be personally facing at the time. It isn't very often that you find a group of people who are willing to set aside their own problems in order to help someone else that is struggling.

We all have our own struggles, and reading about others' often makes our own problems seem minimal. IMHO, if it's an issue to you, it's important. I use this forum as my therapy. Everyone is so kind and compassionate here. And safe.....

Make yourself at home

EXACTLY!!!! We all struggle; we're all important; everyone's problems are important. Period.

@Kaezziel if you happen to stop by I saw this and thought of you

Thank you, Ms. Bea!! That is beautiful and I've had that exact thought, myself. I know how lucky I am, because Tricia made the decision to spend the rest of her life with me, and she did. She could have chosen from any other man in the world, but she chose me.

A treated 4x4 would work perfectly fine, Love. Those are what is holding up my fence, so I don't see why it wouldn't work out. :)

I have decided on the quikcrete, 4x4 treated combo. I'm going to tether her lead on one side and attach a shepherds hook on the other. When I scrape a little more money together, I'm going to buy one of these to hang on the shepherds hook. Aren't they cute? I still have to buy a load of fill dirt to finish filling the hole the roots left behind. Ho hum...it's always something.

My son, in his drug filled haze over the weekend and Monday lost his house keys so I'm going to have to have my locks replaced too. :glare:

You seem to be handling things so well, Kaez, & that eases my heart. I've been concerne about the time when things settled down & started to move into a new normal. You are doing well, dear!
Now, are you ready for the storm?

Thank you, Darlin'. I'm really struggling with figuring things out. Everyone keeps telling me to go out, to do whatever I want to do... problem is, I don't know what I want to do. I don't even really know who I am anymore. I have spent so much time in the role that I was in that I seem to have lost track of who I am as an individual. Now, I'm just mostly feeling like I am lost and have no direction. Tricia defined me and gave me purpose. This is just all so much harder than I thought that it would be...

I'm trying, Hun. It's been hard, though... :(
As for the storm, I'm not too worried. It cancelled my fishing trip for this weekend, but other than that, I'm far enough north that it shouldn't be too much of an issue for me. Probably get a lot of rain and some flooding, but other than that, I expect that I'll be fine up here.

I know.......

BREATHE first. Tell yourself on such and such a day, you're going to go do this or that. Football's comin' - you like to watch games? Head for a restaurant that has TVs - grab some snax and kick back.

I'm throwing suggestions, Dear One - you're not expected to do anything this very moment in time..... except breathe

I'm so sorry your fishing trip got cancelled. I had planned to take the whole weekend off this coming weekend instead of just Sunday but because of the company Family Day(I worked instead) last Saturday, they moved 1600 parts to this week so my cell is working the weekend.

I did a Google search and found them here..

 I'm still breathing, Sis. Sometimes it's just one breath at a time.

On a positive side, I got to yell at someone today. One of the companies that provided oxygen equipment STILL hasn't picked up their equipment... even though they were told almost two months ago to come and get it. I called them this morning and told them that I will be home at 5pm and that if they don't pick it up today that I will be placing it on the curb and if it disappears, then so be it. I ain't paying for it either way.

I've honestly considered this. ;) Not to mention putting him on the street. :|

I can't even imagine how hard all of this has been on you, Love. Might be that I need to make a trip to NC to knock some sense into the boy? ;)

Yeah... my SIL's boyfriend has a boat and was planning on going out this weekend. He lost his wife to illness several years ago and understands what I'm going through. Hopefully the storm will pass quickly and maybe we can go out next weekend. We'll see how it goes...

Sounds like you're gonna be a busy l'il bee this weekend!! Don't work too hard, Love. We can't have ya runnin' yourself ragged.

So they are solar lamps! That is sooooo cool!! Love, love, love those!! :D

One day at a time SweetPea, that's all that required of you.

Ragged? I went beyond ragged back in February of this year. Now it's more like tatters that I'm trying to hold together.:lol:

The thing to watch out for up there is wind, & tornados with power outages. The flooding goes on further south. Then there's where the dirty side lands & how long it camps on us or if it just moves on thru.

Take your time, give yourself a chance to find yourself again & let habits & emotions settle into their new places.
