Reminds me of something that happened in 1980...
We ordered a 1/4 load of gravel to freshen up the driveway, told them to just dump it in the driveway.

Came home about 11:30 pm...came around the corner - the car lights lit up a MOUNTAIN of gravel dumped in our driveway !

OHMAGOSH !!!!!

THREE of us ended up with a fresh 3" layer of gravel in our driveways !

...it was only like $150.00 too - cheap but a crapton of work !

 Holy crap!! If that was a 1/4 load, how big was the truck?!!?

Side note: One of Tricia's really good friends just posted on FB that her house is now flooded. I was afraid of that happening with where she lives. Trying to figure out how to get her out of there and possibly get her up here to stay with me for the time being. I'll go down and assess everything once the weather clears up, help her with what we can do and get the insurance claim running, but that likely won't happen for a week at this point. She's such a sweet girl and she's all alone, has medical issues, and just really doesn't know what to do at this point... I hope we can get her out of there...

Taking a bit of a break since the sun is directly overhead where I'm shoveling.

The hole around the 4x4 is done and the variegated ivy "borrowed" from next door is planted. Ran into a bit of a snag hooking the dog up as his lead is about 3 inches too short and I'm not strong enough to pull it over. My bil is sick so I won't ask him to come down and try. I guess now I need a plan B. The pond is half full of dirt. I do have a sad though. When I was digging out the trees that had come up from seed I unearthed a small salamander that was desperately trying to get out. I tried using the shovel to lift him up high enough to go over the edge but it kept running off of it. Then it disappeared. It's buried under lots of dirt now. :(

My sister is in La Porte (Houston area). Water is halfway up her driveway, but she said the drains are good there. She's just hoping they don't lose power.
Thanks for that info! I have a former ECF friend that lives in LaPorte that I have tried to get in touch with since yesterday. He's not answering his emails and the phone number that I have for him has been changed.

Kenna, I'm glad you checked in and are still dry! The pictures coming out of the flooding are horrendous!
Yes, itvs really bad, but to be serious, we've all known thid6 was coming. We were told it was going to be this bad. We all had time to prepare & told those new to the TX coast all about it. Do they listen? NooOOoo. Most of the reports coming out are about newb's needing rescues. Houses & streets get flooded here. It's not new, & they were warned 24/7 since this storm first showed up souh of the Yukatan Peninsula. Smh. My entire family is safe, dry, & prepared to wait it out.

He/she will probably be able to dig out just fine. And it's cooler down there ;)

I hope so. I really hated shoveling that dirt on top of it. I started to go in there with a box or something but when I saw a spider as big around as a half dollar I said nope! Ain't going in there. I've seen a bunch of salamanders here this summer.

Good afternoon all!

Hoping our brethren in Tx stay high and dry.

Today DW and I did round two at the State Fair. We caught an excellent free Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, and Bandolini the one man band had a couple of stilt walkers accompanying him - fun [emoji5]

So, I felt like getting a 3d printed squonker, and I really wanted 20700 capability, and I like finding a good price point. I ended up ordering a Yiloong predator mech version off 3f.

Here's the only online review I found, but it's quite decent:

Jay did a follow-up, confirming 20700 was easy to do (needed a bottle swap, I plan on checking my 11ml 18mmx60mm Therion bf bottle:

(The base setup has a 20mm x 60mm bottle with an 18650 battery, so in theory the 18mm bottle should work with the 20mm battery - I'd love keeping 11ml of capacity [emoji5])

Yiloong has been around for ages in vaping. Apparently they've had first run issues with mods, but do listen and fix problems going forward. They are also willing to swap early versions with latest production, if someone has one with issues.)

Good morning peeps! :) This may be a very busy day or it may not. I have to be at Laura's apartment at 8 to wait for the internet installer. Colton needs to go to the neurologist today for blood work. The Internet people are scheduled from 8-12. If they come at 8 or 9 it will be no problem to run Colton to Durham(35 miles away) and be back in time for work. If they wait until 12, I may have to take time off that I can't afford. Ugh...Thankfully, this is the last day I'll have to wait for anyone.

I hope all my Texas friends are safe and dry this morning!

I hate those "windows" of time. Last time I had to call for the cable dood, he showed up a touch early! And then did "more" than what was requested on the service call. Got lucky on that one :) Hoping the same for you, Sister!

So far it ain't happening. I've been here for 2 1/2 hours with no show.

That's the way Directv was. Install set for 8-12. The installer was here at 8:01, done by 8:30, gave her 2 new remotes and we chatted about vaping for 30 minutes. I was home by 9:10. Centurylink here just sucks! They may show up, they may not. But internet providers that consistently work are few and far between here.
