Still hanging out here at the house. Work is canceled for the day and they will take it day by day until this is past us. Still getting quite a bit of rain, but the drainage here at my house is still keeping up well. We don't even have standing water in my street and it rained HARD through most of the night. Hope everyone here is faring well and has a wonderful morning!

Fingers crossed that you don't end up missing work, @LynnNC! Maybe Colton's Dr. appt. will go fast to make up for losing time waiting on the internet schlubs...

Morning everyone! We are still fine. We didn't get the downpours that we were expecting last night, no thunder or lightning. Just some normal rain, no wind. They are releasing water from 2 major reservoirs on rivers to the north so they don't overflow. Even a controlled release like this will bring more water to areas already flooded, & may cause flooding where homes have been close to flooding but not there yet. Many people still needing rescue & more will need it after this release. Resources seem to be keeping up with demand although stretched. Any donations to Red Cross will go to help Harvey relief for now as shelters need baby formulas, diapers, bandages & first aid supplies. Many people had to leave without their meds. I'm just noting things I'm seeing on local Fb pages for citizrns in towns to communicate with the town & each other.

So glad to hear you are doing good, Kaez! Were you able to get help to Tricias friend?

She is staying at someone's house right now. Parents of one of her friends. She should be safe until after the storm passes and then I'll go down and help her figure everything out. I think that the plan may be for her to stay with me until her house is livable again, but I'm not sure about that. It would be quite a drive for her to get to work every day... but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Glad to hear that y'all are still hanging in there, Hun! Hopefully the planned releases don't affect y'all too much!!

Good morning all. I was outside with my puppy this morning enjoying a cup of coffee and vape. Chiquita was under my chair relaxing. A squirrel popped its head up on the other side of the fence, without thinking I hollered out "squirrel". Reminder to self, don't holler "squirrel" when your blind dog is under your chair. She just about broke her neck getting out from under my chair and then didn't know what to do.

I was lucky, we picked up fios a year or so back when they did a small extension in our area. I had grown to really dislike Time Warner, and since they're now Spectrum (after the merger) their rates are hosing long term customers.

SO very glad to hear Kaez and Kenna are doing ok I was so worried. My Brother in Law in Pearland (outside Houston) Dodged a bullet with Harvey. SO far his house may be the only one in his neighborhood that is completely dry.

As for us we are just starting to get the rain bands from Harvey here in Central Louisiana. They are saying 8 inches of rain in the next couple of days. If that plays out schools will close and there will be some flooding but nothing major that won't run off nearly as soon as the water stops. The Hubby and I will just hunker down here at home if it comes to it. We supplied last week for a potential week or two without going out just to be safe.

Deb, glad you're feeling better!

Now that all the so-so juices are gone, you can vape your favorites again. Nice!
thanks. The good came and went, but was nice for bout a day and a half to be in less pain. :D I was vaping good stuff anyhow, til I didn't have anymore and couldn't make myself get off my rump to make juice. Finally did make some Sat night. Should be stocked for awhile. I made only 6 flavors, 3 are new ones so I did 40 mls of each of those. But altogether I made 1, 320 mls of juice! How much I made of my two favs were dependent on how much my pickle jars held with room to stir. :D So 650 mls of my betelgeuse clone, 450 mls of kodak's iced lemon cookie, and 100 mls of tiramisu cream (that's not in a pickle jar). Completely ran outta strawberry, so had to use some strawberries and cream flavoring in my betelgeuse. Curious what that'll taste like. I'm sure it'll be ok, I'm not super picky when it comes to fruits, more picky about bakery, savory ones.

No beans, and no tomatoes. It's pretty much beef, chilies, broth, and seasonings. :)

JUP! Bowl of red. That looked yummy!

Yup... can't call it chili if it has beenz in it! :grr::lol:
Newp. I do sometimes like white chicken "chili" with beans or what I call chili soup, but those aint chili.

Must be our turn with Harvey. Curfew, flash flood warning, tornado watch, pouring rain, & thunder & lightning. Making up for lost time! This is supposed to continue for several days. Praying we don't lose power.

Glad y'all have stayed dry and kept power!! Our rain seems to be drying up. We're still getting a little bit, but very sporadic now, more dry time than rain time.

Ex-BIL's house was hit by a tornado a couple of hours ago... well, it didn't hurt the house; he, the dog, and the house are fine. Took out two huge oak trees in the front yard, flattened nephew's car, ripped the back fence and threw it somewhere, dunno where... it's ugly out there!!
oh noooooooo so thankful peeps and critters are ok. But dang, so sorry to hear his place and car got hit so hard.

I've been keeping an eye on the storms because my oldest son and his family live in the same town that @Kaezziel lives in.
Hope they stay hi and dry and safe

It's nice to hear you are doing well, Deb.
My not sleeping well has nothing to do with the weather in Texas. I learned a long time ago, worry works. How many times have you worried about something and the worry happened. So worry works, it keeps the bad things at bay. I'm a recovering alcoholic, I can justify anything! :thumb::nun::w00t:
I didn't figger it had to do with the weather. hehehe I'm just crazy so have always said I could justify anything. Poor lil chiquita, she is sooooooo adorable

Can't you just teach the pup to dig, and toss it where you want? ;)

I've spent too much time on the wrong end of that #2 Earth Mover.... take it slow, or maybe if you have some gullible neighbor kids, try the Tom Sawyer trick :)
I like all these ideas, particularly the 1st one! Our puppy Ozzy is in for it if he don't quit poopin in the dining room. My dil said this morning she's had it, and plans to start crating him at night if he does it one more time. He started that again with all the rain, cuz he's scared of it. I don't think he'll make the connection as to why he's being crated, but oh well. Wish they'd just get a couple baby gates and block off that area til he gets the message. He was doing really good for a long time about it.

 Holy crap!! If that was a 1/4 load, how big was the truck?!!?

Side note: One of Tricia's really good friends just posted on FB that her house is now flooded. I was afraid of that happening with where she lives. Trying to figure out how to get her out of there and possibly get her up here to stay with me for the time being. I'll go down and assess everything once the weather clears up, help her with what we can do and get the insurance claim running, but that likely won't happen for a week at this point. She's such a sweet girl and she's all alone, has medical issues, and just really doesn't know what to do at this point... I hope we can get her out of there...
Glad she's at least got you to help her and a place closer to work to stay for now.

My sister lives in the Austin area. Worried. She has her own business.
I haven't been watching the news, but would think she should be ok. That's an hour south of me.

Today DW and I did round two at the State Fair. We caught an excellent free Lynyrd Skynyrd concert,
kewl beans! Hope you like the mod. Watched most of the vid, but they lost me when they said, yeah this batt will fit, just bend the contacts  I'm too leary of stuff like that especially on a mech. I love my Reo safety features.

Centurylink here just sucks! They may show up, they may not. But internet providers that consistently work are few and far between here.
we had them for a landline years ago when they took over that area from SW bell. Hated em!

Glad everyone is safe. Hope friends and family stay safe. Sending hopes and prayers your direction.
Good to see you and @TheTinMan !!

Chiquita is 7 years old. It has only been in the last 3 months that she has lost her vision. The vet is perplexed as to the reason. He did ask if she could have gotten into any rat poison. We live on a corner lot and the only way she could have gotten a hold of any is if someone threw it into the yard.

My 3 nephews have houses within a short walk of each other in Pearland. They've been congregating at one house with all the pets. Just got word that house has water in it now. Not sure about the other 2.

Yes, she is adapting better than I am. When I am going anywhere and she follows I talk to her so she can follow my voice.

I know that's awful hard on you to see her go through that. But jup, critters typically adjust fine to things like that. Kinda like, ok......this is new....... then just go on truckin through life.

@angelphyre ayou're gonna need to get a boat!

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
Well, hopefully not, but the way this year has been going, I probably should have invested in a boat long ago...we've already had over 70" of rain so far this year, with 22" in June alone...a boat might just be a good idea! :p:laugh:

Glad you and Kaez and the rest of the Texas gang are doing okay and aren't flooded...my bf's daughters and his uncle live around Humble, but luckily none of them had any flooding either...still praying for all those having to deal with that mess.
