Yes, she is adapting better than I am. When I am going anywhere and she follows I talk to her so she can follow my voice.
My beagle that I was hell bent on getting her lead back up across the yard has a cataract in one eye plus she's almost totally deaf. She's 10. The vet said that there was really nothing we could do about the cataract though. Only major vet hospitals will tackle them and it's usually around $5000 per eye. That and the deafness is why I wanted her to be able to get back on the porch because it's familiar to her. She navigates pretty well. Only running into things that are on the side with the cataract.

Chiquita is 7 years old. It has only been in the last 3 months that she has lost her vision. The vet is perplexed as to the reason. He did ask if she could have gotten into any rat poison. We live on a corner lot and the only way she could have gotten a hold of any is if someone threw it into the yard.

The last dog I had and thst was a long time ago before I got married lost his sight when he got old and I had a cat that lost his sight too, both we think from strokes. The dog we had to walk on a leash to go potty and for both we made sure if they came towards us in the house we either talked to them or shuffled our feet so they knew whete we were. And we didnt move any furniture around. They both did fine.

They switched houses now. One of them is still dry & has power. Working on getting them floated out tomorrow. One of the other kids is LEO & just got home from a 96 hour shift & he is helping. He & my BIL have high trucks so flost them out & pick them up.

Well, hopefully not, but the way this year has been going, I probably should have invested in a boat long ago...we've already had over 70" of rain so far this year, with 22" in June alone...a boat might just be a good idea! :p[emoji23]

Glad you and Kaez and the rest of the Texas gang are doing okay and aren't flooded...my bf's daughters and his uncle live around Humble, but luckily none of them had any flooding either...still praying for all those having to deal with that mess.
All the water dumped on the south & east sides. There wasnvt much left by the time it swung around to Humble & Spring. But it still hasn't moved straight south of Houston. Itvs wobbling around just off shore & sucking up water. So the south h west sides of Houston are getting all of that. It's supposed to head your way & up through Baton Rouge Wednesday. You'll be on the dirty side.

SO very glad to hear Kaez and Kenna are doing ok I was so worried. My Brother in Law in Pearland (outside Houston) Dodged a bullet with Harvey. SO far his house may be the only one in his neighborhood that is completely dry.

As for us we are just starting to get the rain bands from Harvey here in Central Louisiana. They are saying 8 inches of rain in the next couple of days. If that plays out schools will close and there will be some flooding but nothing major that won't run off nearly as soon as the water stops. The Hubby and I will just hunker down here at home if it comes to it. We supplied last week for a potential week or two without going out just to be safe.

Glad to hear that y'all are prepped up, Hun. I was just watching the weather channel and it looks like the storm is about to start getting pulled Northeast from here so y'all are probably in for a good bit of rain in the next couple of days. Prayers that it doesn't get too bad over yonder and that y'all stay dry and safe!!

My 3 nephews have houses within a short walk of each other in Pearland. They've been congregating at one house with all the pets. Just got word that house has water in it now. Not sure about the other 2.

Glad that they have a dry, safe spot for now and prayers that they can get out without too many issues. I wasn't here for Alison, but from what it seems to me... this is worse. I just hope that it starts breaking up soon so that we can catch a break and start cleaning everything up!

Humble is right down the road from me! Glad to hear that they are all doing well and are still safe and dry. There sure are a lot of folks around here who aren't! My sister-in-law just got put into evac status, so they're going to try to get out. Nephew may be having to evac soon, too. None of them have water in the houses yet, but they're following directions from county and state officials... just hope they don't come back to flood damage!

They are saying it is supposed to get serious for us tonight and stay nasty through Thursday. That said the storm can't seem to decide when it wants to start moving so the actual serious start time keeps getting pushed later. For those that are wondering find I-49 in Louisiana and we are about halfway between Shreveport and Alexandria. In short this thing is projected to roll right over us. The good news though is that we are far enough north that most storms loose most of their punch before they get to us.

We are looking at road flooding here in town which might take a day or 2 to run off. Some more serious flooding out in the parish. Power outages are pretty much guaranteed. Our power goes out on a sunny day at times LOL. SO they will likely cancel school until the water runs off and we just hunker down at home.

God help Lake Charles and New Orleans. It is not a good situation for either of them.

So far just steady rain...a little localized road flooding, but that goes away when the rain slacks up like it has right now...but then we haven't gotten the brunt of it yet.

Hope your SIL and nephew are both okay and pray that the floodwaters stay away from them. :nun:

Hope the worst of the storm passes you by...stay safe!...and yep NOLA always is in a bad situation whenever something like this comes up...that's the bad part of having a city that's basically in a bowl.

I can not begin to imagine what you Texans and all Texans are going through. My heart hurts when I see the pictures on tv. I woke up to pouring rain this morning but after seeing the devastation in Texas will never ever complain about the rain again.
Donct y'all have one cooking offshore?

It didn't develop into anything other than a tropical depression. We got some heavy showers this morning and a bit of wind but it's supposed to be out of here tomorrow.

Yep they are saying 2 inches of rain tonight. 3-5 inches tomorrow. 2-3 inches on Thursday. Its supposed to start really kicking up about 7 PM tonight for us. I got news for the hubby even if they have not cancelled school tomorrow if it is raining that hard he will be taking a day as I refuse to drive on roads that flooded (He's a teacher and does not drive).

There is a high side. If the rain moves to us then Houston will get some relief from new water.

Edit: Finishing our prep as we speak. Last of the batteries and devices are being charged and I just finished mixing up 8 60mL bottles of juice. All the laundry is done so we have plenty of clean dry clothes and towels. Supper is in the crockpot so dinner tonight is covered and tomorrows is a heat it up affair. We have a one burner portable stove that runs off bottled gas (like they use on banquet tables). All the oil lamps are full and the lighters have been found. Extra Ice has been packed in all the freezers to keep them cold longer. Full pantry.

We should be good to go.

This storm was sneaky. It stay a TS until a day or so after it crossed Yucatan, then went from Cat 1 to a Cat 4 in 24 hours while sitting just off Padre Island. And the way it was wobbeling they couldn't tell which way it was going. Then it just scooted into Rockport which is east of Corpus & PI. All within that 24 hours.

You are done! What about water?
I kept making & bagging ice as we made room in the freezer. Our fridge is only a 19cuft so really small freezer! I think I have 5 1gal ziplocks of ice cubes.

I think they have enough to last them for a while.
Recovery from something like this can take weeks just to get utilities back. And potable water & stores stocked enough, & fast enough to maintain the population.
Galveston Island is now underwater.
