Happy late birthday @Diver9543
For some reason i wasn't getting notifications for this thread,so i thought nobody had posted anything new for the last week.
Anyway, speaking of Diver,as most of you know,he got me hooked on making pens, and that new hobby has progressed into more woodworking stuff.I just did a beautiful razor today, and have started buying the stuff i need to start making bowls and stuff here soon too,and i just bought all the stuff needed to start stabilizing my own wood,it's getting to be an expensive hobby haha, but the results are well worth it,plus it gives me and my son more stuff we can do together,so it's all been money well spent.
Here is a pic of the razor, the handle is turned from a piece of green dyed stabilized buckeye burl.

Thank you, Sir. I love how the razor turned out. I only ask one thing, when your wife finds out how you have spent and I was the one to introduce you to your new hobby. Give me a heads-up so I can hide. :tumble:
I think it is wonderful that you can share quality time with your son. My daughter isn't that interested in working with wood, however, she enjoys using the things that I pass-on to her. Today, I'm going to the shop and figure out a pencil holder for my colored pencils.

Haha,no worries, most of what i bought here recently was from my tax return,as long as i don't dip into her part, she will never notice haha.Although i don't think i really want to know what i spent so i haven't figured it up,it was all well worth it though. One thing i got was a new motor setup for my lathe. The one i have wasn't variable speed, and at first i was ok with that, but after a while i wanted to be able to adjust speed for different projects,so i seen a variable speed motor kit at Penn state, and jumped on it,it made the lathe so much better,i think that may be the best purchase i've ever made haha.I also grabbed a 4 jaw chuck, drill chuck, all the stuff needed to stabilize and dye wood,50 pen kits, and a little over 150 pen blanks,i think we are set for a while on pen supplies haha.
Speaking of which,if you like using the regular domestic wood blanks like Oak,Cherry, etc. i found a great deal on ebay.I got 154 blanks(14 types of wood and 11 of each) for $45 with free shipping,i like using the exotic woods, but for the price i couldn't pass it up,in a month or so i may grab another set of them since they are so cheap, and after getting them, they are all really nice blanks.

Ok,1 more haha.
This is another new one for us.I ran across these blanks called color grain blanks, and they looked interesting,so i grabbed a couple to try out,and i really like the way these look,so will definitely be getting some more.
It's a little hard to tell in the picture, but the green one has purple through it,matches my joker themed mod perfectly haha, and the other kinda looks pink in the pic,but it is actually a very vibrant red with silver/grey going through it.The red one my son made,i keep trying to talk him into giving it to me,but he ain't budging off of it haha.

Wow! I had a really nice weekend. I got a call yesterday from one of my granddaughters asking if she could come visit. She was back in town (NE Oklahoma near Miami) and her mom was out of town. She didn't want to stay in the house by herself. She is 19 and her job is making water tanks at well sites so she travels all over the lower 48. We had a really great visit, it was fun watching her play a game on my PS4. She also introduced me to a new show, PD Live. A show that follows 6 different police departments live covering a wide range of calls. She just left to go back to her mom's then she will leave tomorrow for a job in Odessa, TX. Like I said, really nice visit and weekend.

Yay, booked a room in Key West for mid May [emoji5] One of our nieces is getting married in April in London, and they're having a reception in Key West a month later.

Now to figure out whether to fly to Miami or Fort Lauderdale, the 3-1/2 hour drive, vs. Flying to Key West airport

The weekend beanz, Colombia Narinho and Honduras La Paz:

Nice looking car.How do you like it so far?My wife is looking for a newer car,and we are supposed to go look at an Aveo tomorrow. We looked at 2 different Nissan Versa's today, but since people apparently forget how to be honest, neither were anywhere close to what they claimed they were haha.So now she seen the Aveo,so hopefully it comes through as what the guy is claiming.

My best friend ADORES hers. It's pretty old now, but still going strong. A few minor repairs over the years, but, all in all, a really good deal. Hope you find a good one!

Thank you! I just got it this morning but so far it’s a great car. Smaller than what I had and I’ve been told it’s great on gas. :)

Home depot shipping is often pretty solid, sometimes it gets more fun [emoji5]

Time to replace a shower curtain rod, based on comments from DW I went for a double rod.

I ordered it on the 16th, predicted pickup date at our local store was the week of the 22nd - 25th, quite reasonable.

We got an initial shipping notice on the 19th, consistent.

When I checked online last week, it had spent 9 days going 450 road miles to get from somewhere in Ohio to somewhere in PA, yes, 50 miles per day. I'm thinking it was being carried on the back of an old donkey, though perthaps a unicycle rider had it [emoji5]

After a few days off it left the PA stop on the 2nd, hasn't arrived here yet. That's only 160 road miles, hasn't been completed in 4 days - they must be fighting Dire Wolves and White Walkers on the trek north [emoji5]

(No rush to actually get it, but a head scratcher on how it could take this long.)

My guess would be the unicyclist. That many miles for an old mule would be animal cruelty.

Remember that 50 MPD means it's just over 3 days...

Yeah I know I'm scarce around here a lot...I've been busy with lots of stuff, but no, remodeling is not one of them...would like to some day, but too darn busy for that right now. ;)

    Hai Kidz!

Well, the "Trailer Saga" continues.... Last week, SO was pulling carpet and found termite damage. Some old; some current. Getting sprayed (with a non-toxic version) Friday, so they won't get "kicked out" while treating for the little buggers.

Then, today, she texts and says PLEASE call as soon as you can. I call and ask how she's doing. She says "Hot; I'm on FIRE". Not quite sure what that means, I ask her to be more specific. She then explains that she was doing some cleaning in the kitchen and sprayed Simple Green on a vent in there. Didn't realize it was going to DRIP INTO AN ELECTRICAL SOCKET. Apparently there was a "bit of excitement" getting the small fire put out.

She's going to be the death of me

Definitely tell her to be careful with that.We lived in a trailer years ago,and while living there,i seen 2 trailers completely burn to the ground in about 5 minutes, when they go up,they go down very fast.

The car hunt for my wife is finally over haha. She ended up getting an 05 Aveo at a great price, because it needed tires. The guy said it would cost around $400 for tires,so he was willing to drop the price a good bit,so we bought it,and went to Walmart and got 4 tires for $250 installed haha.I'm glad it's all over now,i was getting tired of dealing with a bunch of crooked people. The guy we got this from is a mechanic,so it's been well maintained which was a good selling point,he took the time to show me receipts to show what he has replaced.
