I have a couple of Kayfun 3.1 clones, the first one from ebay, the other from fasttech. They have different fill ports... wondering which is more like the authentic and does anyone use them or just fill from the top?

The fasttech one has a spring loaded stopped (bb? maybe?) that I can push the blunt tip needle of my syringe or metal tip bottle in, I can feel the stopper (bb) easily moving back and fill the tank... it works really well! I just got one of the flat caps which doesnt let me use the top fill method with that cap unless I want to fill it less than half way :(

The other Kayfun3.1 clone came from ebay, nothing in that port seems to actually move, at least not that I can feel... That one requires a good tight seal of the plastic need tip bottle against the base and extreme pressure of the juice forces the liquid into the tank, and I almost always have spillage... and I have to squeeze the hell out of the bottle to get the juice in there. That one I've always used the top fill method on because its just easier and I dont make a mess with the juice.

which kind does the authentic KF3.1 have? and am I the only one using (or trying to use) the fill port??

The original 3.1 has a fill port sealed with a spring loaded ball. The manual recommends using a juice bottle with a thin plastic needle. I bought a Fasttech clone and ruined the fill port with a metal needle and ended up sealing the fill port. Now I fill from the top. Shame, because that 3.1ES is my best Kayfun out of five including three originals. Here's a link to the manual: http://www.meshweaver.com/temp/vaping/SVOEMESTO_KAYFUN_v3.1ES_USER_MANUAL.pdf

The anti-clone police have issued a warrant for your arrest for your remarks , Run Forrest Run !!!! Actually I agree , the FT 3.1 is an excellent device . To the OP you should never use a metal needle tip on a 3.1 , you're scraping and scratching that ball bearing up when you do , eventually you'll deform it to the point where it no longer seals . I'm giving you a link for the correct filling tip .

Thank you for the advice and the link... if I have damaged the fill port, I'm guessing I'm screwed right? at least the fill port is :(

If it's leaking you can try running some water through it with the correct tip , if you're lucky it might be some debris stopping it from sealing , if you damaged it you'll have to seal it off , you can seal it from the inside with silicone sealant .

I must have damaged the ball or seal and the ball was stuck, wouldn't move. I put a couple drops of silicone sealant on the fill hole from the outside to seal the hole and just fill from the top.
What you really need is a hard plastic tip like retic1959 linked to. A luer lock tip you can screw on a bottle or syringe. I found the tips on ebay but they only had packs of 50.

It's not easy to use these ball valves. You have to push the ball down with a hard plastic tip (the spring is very strong) and then push the tip to the side to fill. The second video shows how to fill:
