Kayfun 3.1 stuck on GP LUX top cap!

Sooo, need some help here. I went to take apart my kayfun 3.1 for cleaning yesterday, and it seems to have seized onto the top cap of my Paps LUX :-/ I've tried and tried, but it's hard to get a grip on the paps top cap, and those threads are pretty sharp. I nearly sliced my finger trying to get it off!

Any ideas?

Try putting it in the freezer for a few.
I bought a used 69 mod that had a 1/8" end cap that was welded on. What finally worked was some 3M double side tape applied to the jaws of a small vise. It provided just enough grip and padding that allowed me to remove the cap without a scratch.

^Yep, as he said... place it in the freezer for 20 odd minutes, then run it thru some warm water and try opening it up... it should come off.

Also try putting on some latex gloves before going to tools.

I get the same with my paps and my steamboy. I use one of those little rubber jar-opener thingies.

I've done a couple things to remove my stuck kayfun fr my GUS top cap.

One is I blue taped the edges then 1 layer of paper towel or tshirt and a large wrench. It's an ugly process but managed with only a nic on the Kayfun.

The other is my wife has a jar opener made out of a sticky firm rubber. It has a number of sizes all the way down to 22 mm diameter. That worked also.

Since then I have placed small squares of blue painters tape on the top cap. I mean 4 little squares that u can't see once the atty is screwed on. It NEVER gets stuck any more. I am unsure wether it will effect performance, I've not noticed. I think that little bit of spacing which is visually unnoticeable has helped in keeping it fr getting stuck.
