Been looking for a kayfun v4. Want the authentic but £120.00, hmmm. I think vaping legislation might have some big problems in the future so I want to stock up. Seen fasttech, element vapes and such are saying that they have a 316 grade of stainless steel on the clone. Can that be true? Do those companies lie. If its true. 21 dollars. Wow! Let me know if anyone has this and its true. Thanks

Oh really? Reviewers were raving on about the 316 used. Almost better than sliced bread I heard. So clones are much safer than I ever thought. As long as there is no gold plating, copper or chipping. If the product is rust proof does that mean the metal is fine. Should I leave the atty inwater first? Thanks

No, rust proof means it won't rust. Rust looks bad and is toxic.

The reviewers rave about particular metal vs other metals.. because thye have to find something to convince people the product they are selling is better that the product the other guy is selling. Remember, 100 years ago Cigarettes and ....... were considered to make you HEALTHY. It's called advertising. You find a GRAIN of truth and inflate it's importance till people think it is something special.

Clones are usually exact copies of the authentics, sometimes even better.

Stop listening to online reviewers and brush up on some science.

316 stainless is a cheap commercial alloy used in everything from forks to screws. It's not a high quality stainless steel like s30v etc. it's soft and easy to work.

I have copper lines in my house bringing water to the tap, and brass fittings at almost every faucet.
;)
Unless you are chewing the metal or heating it to 1000 deg. And sucking the fumes you should be fine.

K cheers guys. I Obviously don't understand much about metallurgy. I guess the inferior brand of syllogism that I'm acquainted to only allows me such a basic view of the products. Find it quite hard to understand how one version of the kayfun can be £120 & the other a mere £15. Leads me to believe I am missing something important. Thanks for your help though. Think id better spend the rest of my days vaping on a kayfun clone and extending my ken and reducing my massive delusions. Ta for your help.

Here's what you are missing.

None of these are really expensive to manufacture.
Many authentics are high priced because they were made in small shops and home based businesses.
And yes some are stupidly overpriced, which is why a clone market exists.

Clones are made in very large factories in China which are subsidized by the government. ( sometimes the better equipment makes the clones better that their authentic counterparts).

There are no unions in China, no $40 an hour shop workers, and the government funds industry over there.

The price of an authentic doesn't reflect quality, it's the price to own an authentic pieces de by the original designer.

That said, the Kayfun clones are damn near identical to the authentic and I cannot see any reason to pay for an authentic.

Thanks Bad Ninja. That sounds great. The amount I want to try is endless. Ha ha. So it is just bragging rights? That's great. Thanks very much for your help.

Pretty much, yes.

I have about 80 mechanicals and 20lbs of atomizers, some authentic, mostly clones.
With most designs there is very very little difference.

All clones however are not made the same. Read reviews and discussions on fasttech for each item you are looking at, to find the better quality clone.

One more question @Bad Ninja . I've been reading threads which state that cheap clone rdas are dipped in chrome so they look good, as polishing steel takes far too long for an atty under 10 dollars. What are your thoughts on this? Still worried. Maybe worried enough to draw £120 for a kayfun but I don't want to. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Well I have dozens of clones RBAs and none are "dipped in chrome".
I've never seen one "dipped
In chrome".
I've seen a few that had gold plated top caps, and were clearly listed as such.
Fasttech lists the materials used on every atty and mod. Be sure to read the discussions in the link on he product page.

Most of the clone bashing comes from people who buy and sell authentics, or make and collect authentics, and most is 100% untrue.
Are some authentics made better? Sure.
Are they 10 times better? Nope.

phew! Ok, thanks again. I don't know why getting a product at a relatively fair price unnerves me this much. So the good polished looks of most of these clones is just a result of good production? I have one stillare clone but I wont use it because it has gold plated posts. I try not to make excuses but I have recently recovered from a terrible injury. It has made me quite paranoid. Thanks again. Any firms that you particularly recommend?

Don't be paranoid based on internet jibble, check the science first.

You do realize original authentic Stillare has gold plated posts too right?
The clone is an almost exact copy.
Right down to the gold plating.
( which is also cheap).

Get that Stillare clone wicked up and vaping!
Don't be worried.
You are doing the right thing by asking questions, and you are in the right place to get solid answers.

Nice reply, cheers. I never properly thought about it and just assumed that the authentic company would use a better plating. No chance of 24K (sigh) but I thought it would be safer. I wrongly assumed that money talks in this business but I guess not. Thanks for your help.

24k gold plating costs next to nothing.
The solid stuff is costly.

Can not go to Motorcycle Club parties if you drive a Honda. LMAO!

But you can still smoke them on the street
