Kayfun Lite

So when rebuilding the coil on a kayfun and firing it, is it bad for the ends of the coil that is under the screws to smoke a little? or is that a sign to change the coil?

The whole coil gets hot so any liquid on the coil - even on the wire close to the screws will 'burn' off.

There may be a bit of cotton or whatever caught there. Is it still testing at the right resistance? Any hot spots when you make the coils glow? Are the glowing red from the middle of the coil outward in a uniform way?

okay. The coil has been on there for like two weeks now(i've changed the cotton, just not the wire)

As far as i can tell it is glowing fine. The whole thing lights up evenly, if anything maybe the outside starts glowing 1/4 a second before the middle. I messed with it for like ten minutes with no change. I ended up just replaced the coil which seems to be doing better.

Is it just gunk thats built up from use which is burning on the coil? Cause i was dry burning it for a good 10mins without much change.

Yeah, I have 'gunk' burn off when I dry burn a coil but not for ten minutes straight. I'll fire it up good and hot, let it glow bright red until all the gunk is gone and that's it.

Coil only needs replacing if it breaks/fails or gets mangled...........or if you want to try something different.

When ever doing a wick change:
Rinse wick
Twist out of coil to prevent coil stretching
Check coil fastening screws - they can get loose over time
Pulse coil to heat and burn off Gunk
Cool coil and rinse off Ash
Recheck coil function(glow from center out)
Adjust individual coils if needed
Check resistance
Install fresh wick
Wet wick(e-liquid) and test fire
Recheck resistance
finalize assembly
Recheck resistance
VAPE!!!!

Dont forget to rinse off the ash after dry burning clean. I use an old toothbrush under hot water to clean them. Brand new coil.
