I prefer the original Kayfun 3.1 ES for two reasons. The air draw on the Kayfun ES is more (bigger) than the Russian, so with the adjustable screw, you have more control of your airflow.

I also like the 3.1 because if your going to use a svoemesto Semovar to power it up, you can only use the "Hybrid Adapter" on the ES.

One drawback to some is that it is larger (taller) than the Russian 91%

Fill hole placement ? I dont care because I dont use them. I fill from the top.

I have both, I prefer the kayfun. My Russian 91 leaks from the fill screw with PG base liquids; that said they both really rip the vapor out and taste amazing. I also prefer the stainless finish on the Kayfun. As far as setting them up, they are both equally extremely easy. I purchased the Russian first, only to end up purchasing the Kayfun due to said leaking issues as well as a finish that doesn't match any of my mods.

Like EagleHawk, I also have both, and had the same leaking problem with the fill screw on the R91.
I fixed the problem by placing one of the small spare o-rings on the screw before re-installing.

From a pure performance perspective, I find them identical. While I like the looks of the KFL+ better, I like the outside AF adjustment of the R91 better.

All in all, I think they're nearly equal. If you can't get (or find) one of each, then you can't go wrong getting one or the other. Just my opinion.

I bought a Russian 91% a couple days ago. I was at This Old Vape Shop in Phoenix, AZ and was talking to the owner about dripping. I said I loved to drip but wished there was a rebuildable tank setup that gave the vape output and flavor of dripping. I was told about the Russian 91%. I was able to try one and really liked it, so I bought one. I don't know how to wrap coils yet, so they did it for me. They build a microcoil with 28 gauge wire and used the wick that came with it. It's running at 1.1. Very nice. I really like the adjustable airflow and adjustable bottom pin. Really nice. I'm running it on a Kamry 101, which I've used for awhile now and really like.

I call the Russian 91% and any rebuildable tank system the lazy man's dripping. TW a great way to get the flavor without having to drip. Works for me :)

I have both - although it's the KFL+ that should be compared with.

The leaking issue is solved by using the O ring found on the screwdriver that comes with it.

They vape the same.

And the Russian 91% forced Svoe Measto to come out with air flow control on the KFL+, so not to sure about the cloning thing there. Also, I am anti clone, but don't have problem with UTC due to the history with Svoe Measto.

Anyways, the only difference I see is that the Russian seems a bit tougher. I work in an extremely rough environment, and the Russian steel seems to hold up better.

For most, this is a six of one half dozen of the other situation

I to have both and there both authentic the kayfun is built better the threads are smother the Finnish is nicer it has more weight to it
the Russian has an adjustable pin in the bottom of the 510 but I have never had any issues with the Kayfun not connecting to any of my devices The kayfun is built in Germany and the Russian in China with all that said they both work equally as good :)

My experience is strictly with KF 3.1 and KFL clones. I prefer the 3.1 because of the tank at the bottom. Having said that, once you learn how to set them up properly they rarely leak or gurgle. Finally, I know how some people feel about buying clones, but if i find a clone that functions as good as the authentic tank I would lean towards buying it, especially if the price differential is substantial.

I really have to disagree with this....I have both as well, and build quality for mine is identical....the only difference is the metal used in the Kayfun is softer.

I work in a rough environment, and I beat the CRAP outta my mods. If you saw the chunks that I have knocked out of my Provari....

Anyways, the Kayfun's thread cannot stand up to the same abuse..

I don't really see a difference in build quality...neither does any of my friends who vape. Just a softer metal.

Weird.

They both weigh about the same, if anything the Russian is heavier. Are you sure about your Russian?

If I recall when pbusardo did his kayfun lite+ vs Russian 91% video, he weighed them as well. I don't recall which was heavier, but the difference was mebbe a gram.

I certainly can't say I regret my Russian, and they certainly don't feel cheap, scratchy, or look bad either.

Perhaps it's that we have a different sense of what looks good?
