Once (if) Big Pharma gets on board and starts selling e-cigs, you'll see the legal tide change abruptly. It's Big Pharma's threatened bottom dollar on all their FDA-approved-yet-wildly-unsuccessful nicotine products that's creating the backlash, and Big Pharma has a lot of pull with Washington. A LOT.

You know, I was thinking, let's get even more specific.

My card was used four times (fraudulently) with four different online merchants.

Urbanoutfitters.com
K&G Men's warehouse (.com)
Proflowers.com
giftbasketshome.com

Does this ring familiar to anyone who's been hit?

The two clothing stores had online chats available and both were able to help me.

Perhaps they all used the same CC processors?
I wonder who the CC processor is and whether there is more than one affected in this particular rash of incidents.

Ecig Venders here in the USA need to be more pro-active. Especially if they start loosing (are loosing) a significant amount of business because of the fraud that is happening. What can they do? I don't know, but if I was a vendor I would try to start with a convention of sorts(virtual and/or physical) of all the concerned owners of ecig related online businesses here in the USA. They need to band together to bite this in the rear before it really gets out of hand. They should gather a data base of CC processor companies that they are using to process orders. Within the data base they should tabulate the complaints that are fraud related. They should put pressure on the CC processors to "flatten" their hard disks periodically (so to help reduce any problems from hacking of the processors companies file servers their business data can be saved and reloaded once the disk has been low level reformated).
They should tabulate all the security software that is installed on those CC prosecors File Servers and how often they update their security programs.
But I don't think it will ever happen because there will be down time involved with such actions on the CC processing company and/or because ecig venders would be afraid of the particular CC processing company refusing to do business with the vendor in the future.
So we'll see what happens in the future.
The best bet, in my eyes, is that the "BIG" CC Processors will have a change of heart and allow ecig related purchases.
Or maybe Paypal will have a change of heart and allow ecig purchases, they do allow it overseas why not here. They are putting our USA venders at a disadvantage vs the rest of the world by not allowing ecig related purchases here in the USA.
Sorry that this is so long but....

Wow man, that sucks! My issue is I don't have an actual CC. So it's my checking account that got hit. Yeah, I know: Lesson learned. I guess one tends to get jaded after using the same method successfully for so long. I have alternate method already waiting to go.

Thats even worse! My checking got hit in the past and it was a nightmare because all of my pending payments bounced while waiting for the bank to investigate. It was brutal trying to get all of the lat payment fees and credit score hits removed. Thankfully you caught it before they cleaned it out.

Now I use my CC but my wife checks up on me daily! I spend my vape allowance monthly and pay at the end of the month lol.

If the purchases originated in countries within Asia, the Middle East and former Soviet Union countries, they'll be shipped to a PO box in some backwater city, then sold at a huge profit. More often than not, the cards are used for purchases from online retailers, Apple iTunes gift cards, prepaid calling/visa cards, that sort of thing.

Problem is, the original compromise could have actually happened weeks ago, and the card numbers only now found their way to the CC trading cites.

Wow I am a bit relieved in a weird way. Last week I had Discover call me and tell me that they detected some possible fraud. Apparently someone was trying to charge $200 at walmart.com. I haven't shopped at Walmart since I bought camping supplies last July. Then 3 days later I get a call from Chase that says someone has charged $200 worth of porn subscriptions (I swear this one wasnt me) and some other "software support" subscriptions on my account from an IP address in... INDIA!!! Needless to say that I am not currently in India nor have I ever visited there.

I believe I have used both cards recently for Vape purchases including but not limited to AVE. I am sure they will square this away ASAP and have full confidence that once they reopen shop that everything should be fine.

pk, I noticed a charge on my discover card this weekend from a gentlemen's vapes. the charge was made on the same night I ordered from BWB. I googled them, and they sell atomizers for ............not something I've purchased. I had the account closed and alerted Don as well. this charge was back on Feb 17th though. I haven't ordered from AVE in a dogs age, and definitely not since I got the discover card.

I use Shop Safe but my Bank of America had a possible compromise a few weeks ago and I did not order from AVE. Bank of America closed my card regardless. There's no way the shop safe numbers are supposed to be compromised, yet for some reason B of A decided to send me a new card to be on the safe side. They have top-notch fraud prevention in place apparently.
