Kept runnin' into Bovina all weekend.

My wife and I took a week end getaway in St. Joseph, a coastal town on the southern shores of Lake Michigan this last week end. We had never been to this particular town before. We usually go further north on the lake shore. We pulled into town, parked the car and as I rounded the first corner I ran right into our beloved Bovina! I'd recognize her anywhere.

I guess she must have been in town clothes shopping because every time I ran into her around town that day she was wearing a different outfit.

I'm not sure who the kid was that she had with her the last time I saw her. She wouldn't say, in fact, I found her to be oddly quiet every time I saw her that day.

Bov, this town was full of these crazy ... painted cows. How'm I NOT gonna think about you?
Actually, they had pigs and donkeys tooo. I even saw a giant turkey.
My wife thought I was crazy running around looking for all of the cows to photograph. I just told her it was to make a nice woman in CT smile

Reminds me of Virginia beach where they do the same thing accept with dolphins, I think one of the locals told me it was for some kind of charity or cancer research. I will have to mark down st joseph as one of my places to see in Michigan lol.

Some places in Louisiana do the same thing with standing alligators. Louisville does the same thing with horses.

We could do the same thing in our little town...... except it would have to be figures of NASCAR fans holding bottles of Jägermeister and cans of Bud Light.

Yep. Two week ends a year this town is taken over by the disciples of Dale Earnhart. The rest of the year it's a really nice farming / lake community. I really do love this area.

Could be Mist, at least some sort of art exhibit I can't read the cards at their feet in your pics, but it probably gave the artist info.

Yeah, they did but I didn't read any. The little plaques were set into the concrete and looked pretty permanent though. There was another thing that I didn't read in the local art co-op about the project that had a picture of the mosaic cow on it.
Having paid no attention to the whole idea behind them, I turn out to be quite a bundle of information now, don't I?
