For me it's been hit or miss. I have two $14 Kayfun clones from FT that are fantastic. I have another all black one from FT that I thought would be the same manufacturer, but it's the worst of the fleet. The finish was terrible, and airflow through it was the worst out of the eight or so I have now, even after drilling it out to 2mm (which I do to all of them).

I had some success drilling out the center pin of my Tobecco KFL+ V2, so I may try that with that one as well.

Did you check the obvious problem places?
1) Lower Grommet blocking Air Passage
2) Debris in Center Screw - usually plastic

Either will kill air flow and I have found Both - mainly Debris

Check the Base Center Bore on the bad one. It should be larger than the Center Screw all the way through and only reduced by the upper/lower grommets. This allows free air flow around the pin and into Both air holes in the center screw.
