My current micro-coil is about 7 weeks old. I dry-burn it and blow off the char between wick changes.

I use organic cotton and typically change it every 3 - 5 days, depending upon the flavor used. Usually this is when the flavor becomes muted, burnt, or the draw becomes tight, much like the cartomizer in a cartotank does. I'll either wait for the tank to become near empty, or I'll drain the tank using a needle & syringe.

I just got the EHPro clone KFL+ as well and absolutely hate it... all my juices taste "off" in it... Some taste soapy, some taste bland and weak compared to my RDA when I thought the KFL was supposed to "boost" flavors. I bought it to take my mechs on the go but quickly reverted back to a clearo and my mvp2. I washed it thoroughly right after i got it. Built a coil reading 1.6 and cotton wick (not too much or too little) sitting just as they should be on the juice channels but it's just a garbage vape. A 3 dollar clearo blows it out of the water. Am I doing soomething wrong? I would love to get it going as I feel it should, but I'm lost on how to do any different.

Highly unusual. Are you using organic cotton? Some cotton has been bleached or treated with other chemicals and would need to be boiled clean of contaminents. Make sure the cotton doesn't block the juice inlets on the deck. As you said, the right amount of cotton is critical, and don't pack it too tightly where it becomes compressed and won't wick adequately. Be sure it stays fluffy.

How is the airflow? There may be something in the air chamber blocking the air flow and affecting the flavor. The height of the coil can be an important factor - try experimenting and be sure the coil lies directly over the air hole on the deck.

There's a wide selection of Kayfun-style tutorials on YouTube. I chose this one to follow and had great results right from the start.

There's been too many people who love this design who get great flavor production. Unless you have a defective unit, it must be user error. Don't give up the ship. :)

What I have noticed from my experience with my KayFun……. (story begins)

When I first got it I thought it sucked… Hated it.. Buyers remorse big time.. Now what I have learned…

When I first coil it and wick it the device blows. Never fails it performs poorly. What I have learned is that once I get it all set up on a fresh wick job it works BEST if I let it sit for a few hours… Like a minimum of three. Seems after that time it works great! I get good vape and flavor out of it. And its performance is extremely consistent until my next fresh wick job.

Currently I am on day 4 of this wick job and will be switching flavors soon. I have my back-up ready to go so my KayFun can "steep" if you will. I normally do this towards the end of the day so it can sit overnight and be ready for me in the morning.

Don't ask me why this works because I dunno.. What I do know is it works for me. And now I love the stupid thing! LOL!!!

I'll break it all down and rebuild tonight. Thanks for the tips! I probably muffed something up trying to put it together so quickly the first time. Sorry for the hijack jklotz!

No problem. One new Kayfun owner was complaining of uncontrollable leaking. Turns out this person forgot to put the chimney in place.

Also make sure, especially if its a China clone, that you wash the living hell out of it when you get it. I submerged my KFL+ pieces in 70% Isopropyl alcohol for a couple hours, stirring occasionally. Then I rinsed off with soap and warm water and then submerged again in plain warm water for another hour. This gets all the machining oil and byproducts out. Every KFL I've vaped has blown away any clearomizer. IMO its the best tank device out there. Don't get frustrated and stick with it and I'm sure you'll get good with building coils and wicking.
