I will admit, I'm a complete rookie at rebuilding. I can manage to wrap a tight micro coil, but I have extreme difficulty getting the kanthal to screw into the deck of my KFL+ clone. I'm using 30 gauge (I have 28 on the way) and every time I try to tighten the screw down the kanthal just pops out. I must have been at it for 2 hours last night with minimal success. Even when I get the screw tightened, the kanthal pops out when I try to lift the coil off of the deck. Extremely frustrating.

I'm using the same method I saw from RiP Trippers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7o7RFoTtw0 1:28 in) with little success. Any tips or do I just need more practice?

If you are having problems go once or more around the screw before tightening it. There's no harm in it.

I would always go clockwise around the screw except that it has the effect of pulling on the wire. I think that is what is wrong with my genesis build -- the coil is too tight because I wrapped it clockwise around the positive screw.

It's like making a RYO; at the first attempt you might wonder how anyone makes such an impossibility look so easy, but you'll soon get the hang of it.

I appreciate all the advice. It turns out that the screws on my clone were complete junk. They were rounded at that bottom of the head. I changed them out and it was perfect. Thanks again!

BTW, this little jig is awesome. I know there's really no need, but it's nice to have. Makes awesome micro coils.

Thats the coil jig I use
Best one I've seen
Those nylon thumb screws are really the only way to go
I had problems with the threaded building platform hole in the aluminum body
The aluminum is just way too soft
Before I totally stripped the threads
I screwed a shorty 510 extension into the threaded hole and now it works great as a building platform
madvapes has good shorty extensions
Do yourself a favor and get one
