Here is my genuine experience of the KF4 after 5 days of mucking with it.

First off, this screw an unscrew certain parts of the atomizer to open and close the juice valve...
This is an uncomfortable cluster F! I find it nearly impossible on my Provari 3. Maybe I have large clumsy fingers, but I have to remove the atomizer to accomplish this, which seems like a real pain in the .... I am sure other finger ninjas get this accomplished fine. Good for them! Perhaps overtime, everything will not be so tight and it might be more possible to open or close the valve without removing the atty, but for now that is honestly the only way I can get it done.

Second, the air draw on this thing is stock setting 50% more than the KFL+ I am used to. I am not joking 50%. Right away I felt this thing made way more vapor but, but, but,.... didn't taste as good. What? you say??? what?? everyone who has Uber builds loves this thing... what's wrong with you??? Well I am not sure, but I can tell you the flavor of your juice is muted by this, if you make it the same way you are accustomed to with the KFL+. What? You must be crazy... this can't be... so and so in the forum said this is the best ever... you must be doing something wrong..... Well perhaps, but this is about my experience....

I love Kayfuns. I have 3, non-clone products from them and enjoy them. I purchased a fourth product when I got the K4. There are many great things about the K4. The build deck 4 screws, the no longer needing to drain juice, the top fill. Yes all that is wonderful.... but if you can't get a great flavor from it? ... what is that worth?

Others have said they get much better flavor from the K4, it is miles above the other offerings, etc...
Trust me I want to believe them. I want to experience what they are getting.

Here is what I got from the 7 builds I have made on the unit....

In order to get some of the flavor back you have to adjust the airflow! Otherwise you get a glimmer of your juice on the inhale, and then a tasteless cloud of grey matter. If I use the same build in my KFL+ I get flavor on the inhale, and even a residual on the exhale to savor. Well just use your KFL+ and shut up... ok fine but... I paid for this and want to explain my experience.

When you adjust the airflow, you remove the 510 pin from the unit, then you adjust the screw inside as you draw from the unit, to find your unique sweet spot. Well, I like a tighter draw than most, but not anything crazy, I found that I got a gurgle when adjusting the airflow tighter. If I had it wide open air, no sounds, but as I tightened the draw I got muffler noises. I wrote in the forums with varied suggestions of help. I also wrote the manufacturer, who suggested that the gurgle was from condensation inside the chamber, and by hard sucking on the unit I could clear this, adding I could continue to draw from the unit after releasing the fire button to prevent this from occurring. Well this worked to a certain degree at first, but it still remains. If I remove the 510 pin and adjust the airflow, I can go from open air and no noise, to closing the draw ( making it tighter) and getting noticeable gurgles and snake hiss. This is not the case with any other Kayfun unit I own.

So what is going on here... I got the great new unit from a vendor I love. I built it several times, and I cant get a great vape.... Surely, It is just me right.?

I am beginning to think not... There are many variables to this equation... The build itself...
In my case 28g Kanthal, 6 wrap micro coil, organic cotton, etc...

The tucking of the cotton, is it loose in the juice ports or stuffed, it is tight in the coil, or does in wiggle back and forth, is there excess cotton lengths, or is there just enough to touch the deck, and so on and so on.....

All these things directly affect the end result and I am aware of that fact. Trust me, I am searching for a better or even similar result- less flavor than my KFL+ but this thing looks cooler-- so I want it, result. So I spent much time carefully making these builds, and comparing them to my existing build made in the same fashion on other Kayfun devices. The fact is I can't get the same result, and the result I am getting is not as good flavor, which to me is everything.

I thought I had adjusted the airflow tight enough I was getting good flavor again, after giving great force to removing any condensation, but not long after the gurgles returned.

It is possible my unit has a leak, stripped insulator, or some other cause making this happen... but I will tell you this is my honest result. After 5 days of mucking with this I removed it and installed a KFL+ unit, that is giving me excellent flavor, and not as much vapor production as the K4.

I am no expert in these matters, and I know it. But I guess I just wanted to give an honest review from a regular guy-non guru-as to what I experienced.
Of course your mileage may vary.

Wishing you the best!

Yikes. Thanks for the feedback. I'm not surprised. Sounds like the 41 elements does make it the Dyson of the vape world (unnecessarily complicated). I'll stick with the Hoovers.

Agreed. Love Basic Kayfun design. My Ithaka RBA's seem the same way - over complicated.

Airflow at about 1.6mm is my sweet spot. That's about the size of the center post hole in my chifuns. After drilling the intake hole to 5/64th that center hole becomes the final limit and is about perfect for my needs. My vaping style is to flip my rig upside down and back up, take 3 or 4 pulls in a row, give it a rest, then repeat. I'm always vaping from a saturated wick and nary a leak in sight.

I recently picked up a couple of the Veritas drippers and now most of the time I'm vaping on one of them. The difference is very slight though and I think can be explained by the shorter distance from the coil to the mouth more than anything else. I can shorten that on my fun-a-like with a nano kit, so I may pick up one of those to see how I like it.
