I'm having some issues with a kGo I just received yesterday. Put one of the batteries on the charger and after several hours, the green light was not on, but occasionally flashing red-green, which searches here said was normal and indicated it was not yet fully charged. I touched the battery and it was very hot, so I took it off the charger and a little while later noticed some alcohol-smelling liquid in the area -- did the battery leak?? cleaned that up well and put the second one on a different wall charger (same dongle), monitoring it closely, pulling at regular intervals to check voltage. After a while that battery also began to get very hot so i stopped charging it. It read a bit over 4.3v with no load.
The first battery at this time was flat, showing about 0.1-0.2v. I tried to charge it again, watching it closely, and the voltage came up to about 3.7v within a few minutes, then dropped a few points over the next hour or so, and within another hour, it began to heat up again, at which time I pulled it. It was flat again, didn't even flash at first, then after it cooled a bit it did the "dead battery" flash and showed again 0.1-0.2v. I am assuming this battery is dead.
So I started to use the second battery last night, and it worked well with boge SR and LR cartos, going through at most 2-3ml among 5 cartos and some dripping. I checked the no-load voltage frequently and it was in the 4.2v range throughout.
Today I'm using it with the same cartos, and it is starting to cut out while vaping, with the LR cartos, I get 1-2 seconds, then the light flashes. It was a bit longer than that at first but deteriorated down to 1-2 seconds. Now from searching, that seems like a typical symptom when the battery runs down and needs charging, however right now I'm getting no-load 4.17v... which as far as I have read is closer to full charged than discharged.
So I'm left wondering what this all amounts to? Has this battery been damaged by the charger also? Or could I be looking at a different issue?
I am wary of trying to recharge this battery with that charger again, what is proper charging voltage these things are supposed to put out?
Other thoughts on things to test from here? I have contacted the supplier but no reply yet (hoosierecigs)
