full hybrid? any 18500 tube will work. my gf's got a synthesis coming for her gus tele, which is basically a hybrid, she sometimes puts a kick in her GGTS/ZAG, which imo hits harder than any hybrid i know of besides the SW, just bc its got all brass connections heres a pic of a couple options you could go w/ if you want a kick...

minus the prozap of course SW can be kicked, GGTS/Zag and paps/zau can be kicked ^ that one is my gf's and has a kick in it in that pic, also i think the mac w/ 500 tube can be kicked, and the chi_you/aios, and theres a few others that I'm probably forgetting.... imo evolv needs to redesign the kick before i will ever use one, 10w is cute, but its just not enough.

sure you can, if its not hitting hard enough just remove one wrap, trust me unregulated hits much harder than anything else. have you ever tried twisted 32 ga?

Nah haven't done any twisted yet. I tried but couldn't get it to twist. I need some locking pliers so I can spin em. I'll try it sooner or later.

I've never actually made a coil under 1.7ohm, which is what I'm using now with my Zap. It's working good so I don't wanna disassemble it, but if I ever get my switch back from faceless I'll try a 1.low coil on my iHy and see what I think.

I can't/won't buy a sidewinder, or any zen stuff really, except the ZAP I bought.

I suppose I'll wait for face to put out a tube that takes a kick and a 350, or just get better at wrapping coils so I get better vape with the 350.

Is the iHybrid a "3.7v" apv? Trying to figure out which numbers to put in my little ohm calculator thingamajig

10w hits harder than hybrids? Ummm... That might be the least true statement I've ever seen in my life. Take any hybrid on the market with brass contacts and wrap a .9ohm coil and toss in a freshly charged 18650 (which will be between 4.1v and 4.2v) and when you're done coughing your brains out and can finally breathe again let's see what you think of a kick at 10w :D

If you're only wrapping higher than 1.7ohm then that is why you're getting "weak" hits without the kick. That's user error, don't blame it on the hybrid. 1.7ohm at 4.18v is gonna hit right at about 10w like the kick, but the battery voltage is going to quickly drop below 4.1v. Your battery is going to stay at around 3.6v for the most amount of time during its cycle, so try to wrap with that in mind. Try a 1.2ohm wrap. That will hit at around 14.5w at first (at 4.18v), which may be a little too strong for you but it will quickly get down to "kick levels" and maintain right around there until you feel it drop enough to switch batteries. Battery life would be comparable to using a kick.

The iHybrid, like any mechanical mod, is completely unregulated. It works at whatever the battery voltage is. An IMR fresh off the charger is between 4.1-4.2v and will drop down until you change it out for a fresh battery.

I didn't think you were putting anything down, I was just trying to point out that the kick actually holds hybrids/RBA's back. A hybrid device or a mechanical 510 with an RBA on top of it is only limited in output by your coil and your battery's amp discharge. The iHybrid is one of the top devices on the market so it seems a shame that you'd be looking for a device to replace it with when your issue stems from using it incorrectly for your intended outcome. I can promise you that if you wrap a 1.1-1.2ohm coil on your iHybrid you will totally forget the kick even exists. And if it ends up not being the right device for you, I will gladly take it off your hands (even with bad threads on the 350 tube) :D

Twisted 32ga with a 4/3 wrap will get to right around 1.0-1.2ohm depending on the thickness of your wick. If you have 28ga try a 5/4 wrap of that. I've found my sweet spot to be 4/3 of 28ga but I'm using 18650s.

Oh no no. I wasn't looking to replace the iHybrid at all, I love it, even with my lacking coil making skills.

I was wondering why everyone was using such low ohm coils, I didn't understand. I also didn't understand that the voltage a mechanical mod fires at depends on the voltage of the battery. I'm really happy that I started this thread, because now I understand 2 pretty important things that are going to drastically improve my vaping.

Progress!

Lol, yeah. The main reason we wrap such low-ohm coils is because the wick is so much thicker than most of the RBA's on the market it takes some extra oomph to get the vape right and with it being unregulated you have to wrap for the average voltage the battery will end up being at for most of the cycle.

Sorry to hear about your 18350 tube. If you contact Faceless via Facebook he should get back to you pretty quickly. iHy's carry a great warranty and I'm sure he'll find a way to make it right for you. He's a great guy and an avid vaper himself.

Don't be afraid to go low. I know what you're saying about being afraid of hitting juice with that much power. I also thought it would kill/burn the flavor as most of my juices would burn at around 9-9.5w using cartos and VV mods so I thought 14w was insane. Turns out it's not crazy and it works AWESOME

Ya you hit in on the head there. I didn't want to burn up my juice or blow myself up, but I got my new switch and I'm about to get down and try this out.

I didn't think to contact faceless on facebook. Probably because I don't have a facebook (I know, who doesn't have a facebook?). My friends keep asking why don't I have one but the answer doesn't change, if you want to get ahold of me, I have a phone number and an address that they all know. Anyway, I ought to make an unnamed facebook page specifically for vaping stuff.

Yeah, also once you feel your batt getting kinda weak, even slightly just take that bad boy out and replace it w/ a new one, letting them drain beyond 3.2v will drastically reduce theyre lifespan, and getyourself a good charger like the nitecore i4 (the one in the pic) it has a microprocessor that analyzes each batt you put in and figures out the right charge for it from trickle charge to standard to rapid charge, but it will charge every batt as fast as it safely can based on how old the batt is... I use the nitecore more than the pila the only time i use my pila now is when the nitecore is full of 4 batts charging and i have more that need a charge. Having a good charger will really extend their lifespan of your batts, i used a tenergy charger when i first started vaping and the 18350s i had only lasted a couple months on that thing.
