What is a "kick"? I see people talking about it, but what are they talking about?

When using mechanical mod, the option of varying your power output gets taken away. The Kick brings it back.

why do we need it?

"NEED", don't really need it, it just makes a standard mod into a variable wattage mod. It gives the flexibility to be able to adjust the temperature of the coil in the atomizer to suit your tastes in a mechanical mod.

You don't necessarily need it. What it does is turns a non-regulated mod into a regulated mod.

So you can vape at stable and/or higher watts than is provided with just a battery on an unregulated (ie VV/VW) mod.

Basically turns a mechanical or unregulated mod into a variable watt mod.

Does not fit all mods.

Its a little microchip. If you have a mod that ISN'T Variable Voltage or Variable Wattage...
You can buy a KICK microchip. Then, you use a battery that is 1 size smaller than the tube, with the kick.
So, if your mechanical mod is for use with 18650, you use the Kick with an 18500 battery.
With the kick on top of the battery, you can adjust the wattage/voltage and make your vape mo powerful.
Beyond making your vape more powerful, it REGULATES the battery.
SO, from right off the charger, all the way until the battery dies, it'll be the SAME voltage.
Unlike with just using a regular battery without regulation, which will voltage sag as it drains.
