Yeah, I know the WAREZ sites/groups exist for fun and bragging rights, but the scale of the streaming sites is so much more massive than warez ever was. Just think about the storage space required for all the vids........ And the massive bandwidth to serve it all up....
Well kodi itself is open source worked on by lots. As far as the addons, not all are kodi approved. That's where the fun stuff lives. :) But as far as volume... I don't see it being any bigger than most of the old warez sites.

From da info I've researched, $ky$tream should not only insure ya get what service ya bought, but also have Elvis tuck ya in each night...

Kay, sure wish I was there to give ya hand. But from here... no way!

BTW, did ya ever get a suitable Over The Air (OTA) HD antenna?

I thought my GD would be able to set it up easily, but she missed a couple of pertinent things...like disconnecting the plug before properly shutting down Kodi. It's not SS's fault at all. One man was on the phone with me last Sat. for over two hours...but come to find out that the new(refurbished) tv was no good! And he was gonna send me an Ethernet cable to bypass the lack of Wifi on the other tv...which I sent back the other day and I'm getting a refund for it.

That's why, since all these youngsters are so tech savvy, that i thought she could do it. And yes, I have an indoor non HD antennae set up...I can watch a few channels plus I have Netflix and Amazon on this Smart tv.

All I have to do is call them ( S.S.)and they'll walk me thru it.

Most Kodi video add-ons are just a graphic/menu 'template' using multi-layered scrubbers. Just take a look a layer or two 'below' Exodus/Zen/salts/etc.

Great to hear! Best o' luck to ya...

Well...I almost had it set up!!! ( the Skystream). My grandaughter came over and within minutes it was set up. But then she downloaded...or whatever it's called...the Slingtv app (after we went on the PC and paid the subscription), went back to the tv, found AMC and Walking Dead...I was jumping up n down!.....then the whole screen went dark...and we couldn't do anything anymore to get it running again...the screen was then even saying that it couldn't connect to the Wifi! So she did something with her Android cell and said that the Wifi was fine:( But I think that she unplugged the box without shutting it down first and might have messed it up...don't know for sure tho.

Woe is me!!!

She's coming back Fri. to try again and I'm going to ask her to watch the actual set-up process on the SkyStream site.

I WILLBE STREAMING ...I'M DETERMINED!:)
You shouldn't let someone who doesn't have an android box messing with yours. They are not the same as a Roku or Fire Stick. You should've asked someone on the FB group what to do and follow their instuctions. And yep Walking Dead is on Kodi watched last episode today. None of the apps in the Google store work as well as kodi. Walking Dead is available the day after it airs along with all the other seasons and episodes on Exodus, Specto, Zen most any of the normal addons. You should be able to unplug your box and wait 30 sec plug it back in and let it go through its boot up. Sling is free for the first week. I haven't put any of the apps from the G Store on mine. Heres a video. Don't let someone who doesn't know Kodi do things to your box they may mean well but can mess things up.

One thing I dont get. All of these various "providers" like RAPIDGATOR, UPLOADER, etc.. - what do they get out the deal? Generally in life people dont provide services for nothing. There is no advertising in Kodi, so what do the providers get out of the deal. What motivates them to invest drive space and bandwidth? On such a massive scale?
Since both of those are Real Debrid normal providers I would thing they get something from RD for giving their customers VIP streams. I know there are a few thousand subscribers on RD. But other then that I think its sort of bragging rights too. I have asked that question also. I have really good luck with Rapid Gator and Uploaded seems to have so much, most of the older but not real old tv is on Uploaded. The really old stuff is on providers I rarely see on any others.

Yeah you have to download the updater then do a fresh install when it goes to Kodi let it set for about 10 minutes the first time so it can update all the addons. Get hold of SS tomorrow and let them set it up or for that matter Manny can do it on the FB site when hes not at work at Elite Mods. So you bought it from SS and not Elite Mods?

Yeah, using providers from RD was a bad example. RD brings money into the equation. Take RD out of it, and just using regular unpaid providers, what are they getting out of the deal? I get the bragging rights thing, that was what kept the warez groups competitive, but this streaming thing just "feels" so much bigger than that, and the only bragging rights would be showing up in the scrubber list.

Yer havin' a real blast, OB. :( But gotta ask... why slingtv? No idea what they could possibly have that kodi doesn't.
It's a pretty good streaming service, I use PS vue but they both work the same. 1080p and all the stuff you'd get with cable, except its only 25/mo

I know exactly what your saying and I questioned the same thing. Streamers like UL and RG seems like they would need a wall of servers and the whole thing seems really expensive. It blows my mind the amount of content that is available on some of the streams and the bandwidth required (I really KNow nothing about bandwidth) but to be streaming to how many thousand people at the same time. I can't wrap my pea brain around it at all.

It's not by design, most of them take down the links as fast as they can, which you'll notice sometimes if you've ever tried to rewind and got cut off mid stream. But some of them are getting smarter and logging ip's now, like openload for example.

I think Kay went to bed but I hope she gets the hang of this. It took me a while to get it but it was easier with some knowledgable help. Lot's of people think it is going to be just like a Roku and it's far from that. Roku and Fireboxes you can just plug them in and they work. But as you guys know once you get the basics down it is just amazing what is available. I still have tons to learn about them but I would need a separate box to play around on to do that. SS pretty well takes care of everything for you.

The thing is, once that link is gone, somebody has to re-upload it, the real question is, who has time for that?
Well you've lost me already. I never try to rewind sometimes FF though. If we are watching a movie and stop in the middle we write down the stream and using RD go back to that stream the next day and most of the time gives you the option to resume and on some of the other streams also. Some don't haven't figured that out either. I have notice that as the movie gets older the 1080 sttreams kind of go away but the HD are still there at least on RD.

I understand that the hangout isn't used as much as it used to be.
