He's right but if you are connecting the box through wifi you need to put the password for your network on the box. The TV doesn't have to be connected to the network for it to work. HDNI from box to TV, input to the HDMI port you used such as #1, box plugged in and turned on and you should be at the opening screen. This is where you go into settings make sure wifi is turned on and enter the password.

The tv screen said "no network" when I was trying to set up the Ss box and the box wouldn't let me go any further...I'm about done with this whole thing...

Well, OB, there'z a procedure to get to the network on a tv and put in yer passwerd. However... irrelevant. TV doesn't really have to be on the network for the box to work. The box is what you're concerned about hooking to the network. Hook it to yer tv and select it. (hit source or input on your tv remote)

OB, yer tv don't need no stinkin' netwerk! :) You run an hdmi cable to da tv frum da box. The box has to connect to a netwerk.
As far as the tv network... u need a passwerd to connect it to yer modem. There's a procedure. But still... knot required fur da kodi box. Don't kneed no smart tv!
Just hook up da box and "select source" frum yer tv remote. (prolly hdmi 1 or hdmi 2)

I've used this tv off n on for about two years...it's never gone blank and said that I had no network!

Are you trying to use the apps on the smart TV? You probably don't want to change the screen size or you'll end up with either a blurry picture or black bars. Just let it adapt to the highest resolution for the source.

The SS video says to configure the screen size....

@oldbroad Kay we normally take a nap in the morning, which if you don't know it's something old people do when they get up to early. PM me your phone number. I will call about 11am PST. What I need you to do is have a comfortable chair in front of your TV. Have the HDMI cable plugged into the box and the TV and know which input on the TV it is on #1, #2 and so on. Don't connect the power yet, have it plugged into the wall but not the box. Have your SS air mouse and TV remote and if possible your laptop where you can watch it at the same time. Have your security code written down exactly small case and large case letters and numbers. Have the USB receiver for the remote plugged into the SS1 on either of the USB ports. I will call you and try to get this thing to set up. The remote has a learning curve also and will try to help you with that. And also unplug your modem for a few seconds and plug it back in and leave it till all the lights are back on green and solid.

Well..let me share this...the stinkin modem has developed one yellow lite...and the router now has only three blue lights instead of the four....

and what the hell is a security code and where the hell do I find it?

Also if the modem is the type that sits on the table if you turn it over it should have a sticker on it that gives you your GUI address, Key/Passphrase, Security Type. You will need the Key which should have been the one you brought up on your computer under network and sharing in the security tab that you have to click the box for it to show the symbols. You will need that the Gui address will allow you to go in and turn wifi on or off but it should be on. If the yellow light shows INT then you have a problem if it shows Ethernet 1,2,3,4 no sweat. I don't know anything about cable modems but I assume they are similar to DSL.

None of that is on the bottom of the router, only capital letters and then a bunch of numbers and a coulpe of letters;

OK I don't think that is a problem since you don't have anything hooked with a LAN or ethernet cable as long as internet is lit up green you should be ok There should also be a light that says wireless that should be green

One of the green lights says "online" which I assume is the same as "wireless".

At least I think that is like on my modem and LAN mine says Ethernet will only go green if you have something wired direct to your modem like computer or box or something.
