Okay, so I was at BestBuy(TM) the other day and stumbled on a great vaping device for my car. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and has a usb port and a regular wall outlet plug. So I plug in my wall charger and my PT and vape and charge at the same time, while driving! Woohoo! It was a little spendy at $49.95, but what the heck? It rocks!:w00t:

why didn't you just get the $9.00 car charger from vapor4life?

I believe u could use the passthru with it.

True, but now I can charge while using the PT. I can also charge with the usb charger and the wall charger at the same time. I spend 10 -14 hrs. a day in my car when I'm working, so this just seemed like a cool thing to have. is it absolutely necessary? No. Do I like it? Yes.

Which, unfortunately, it won't supply...

it does seem to me, though, that the 1000 mA car adapter seems weak? compared to my wall adapter which is rated 2000mA. i'm actually really curious about why that is... and why my new lappy powers the PT better than my old one... i kinda thought it would be a "works or doesn't work" sort of thing. or is it all in my head?

Has anyone tried to use the PCC and a USB extension cable with the pass through? I'm sure it would drain the PCC pretty fast, but curious if it will work. Just ordered the manual USB pass through, be nice to have it portable as well even it is for short bursts. Please advise, thanks!

I'm sure there is no way you would get that to work. Some have tried using a USB extension from their computer or a wall adapter, but the x-cable introduces too much loss.

The Kensington power pack is the best option. With an 1800mAh battery, it will last most people all day.

Thanks Pawpaw, I will try to find one:)

BTW ...the OP is talking about a power inverter....the new(ish) ones everyone is making now have a USB port on them...but the main focus was to turn DC feom your cigarette lighter into AC current that you could plug a standard household plug into..

EDIT: and seems like everyone is making/carrying them these days best buy, wallmart, autozone, truck stops... usually the USB is at most rated at 500mA so I'm surprised that it powers the PT (but that's awesome)

.

If you wanted to be clever, you could build an extension pretty easily that would carry the power.

How about 14G stranded tacked directly to a USB plug? You only need two wires.

I frequently find scrap wire at Lowes for incredibly little money. If you're just wanting six or eight feet, it's pennies.
