Kind of disappointed with my B&M store right now...

Alright folks, it's story time. Settle in, grab your drinks and your APVs.

So, I have a brick and mortar store here that has 3 different locations. I'm not going to use their name just because, why? But anyway, They have sold my brother an iClear X-1 tank. The tank came with a 1.5 ohm, 1.8 ohm and 2.1 ohm atty. They were all rather bad and even after rewicking, they just weren't that great. I chalked it up to being DOA and decided to get him some new ones. I went in the first time (without the tank or an atty) and asked for some replacements. They gave me a box of iClear 16B attys. I get home, and they didn't fit. I'm not sure why they didn't know what atty fit in the tank, so I was a little upset, and my brother just used my backup Phoenix Raven tank for the day.

Fast forward to next day...

I go in to let them know they gave me the wrong attys (this time with the tank and an atty for reference). The person behind the counter tells me they work. I tell him that I'm getting no reading on ohms with them, so NO, they in fact, DON'T. He tries it out and realizes he's wrong, and goes to the back and tries to find attys for the X-1. This takes a while and I look around the shop at some new stuff. He comes back and says "Well, we don't have X-1 attys."

:?:

Are you kidding me? You sell a tank that was HIGHLY recommended by your shop personnel and you don't carry backup parts for it. At all?

No. Not right now. We don't have any.

"Well, I read that the 30B iClear attys will work for the X-1. Do you have any of those?"

"I don't think that's going to work"

"Will you just grab one and humor me, please? Either that or you can take this tank, and this box of attys, and you can just hand me a Kanger Aerotank right now." I was a little more than irritated at this point.

He grabs a 30B, puts it in and surprise surprise, it works! (And this is after talking to 3 other shop workers, calling someone they call "Momma" which I'm sure is the lady I know as Aleisha, and scratching their heads for about 10 minutes) So I take the box of 30Bs home (which they only had in 1.5 ohms!) and out of that box, 2 of them were DOA.

I'm urging him to just call it quits on the tank and grab a Kanger so he wouldn't have to worry about getting replacement attys. This B&M store has tons of Kanger replacement parts and they aren't too stingy on the price.

One of those annoying episodes for you I see. They're probably still better than my local B&M: I stuck with one of those who refuse to put a price label on anything. I told them that as they won't do it I'm only going to buy the odd bit of wire and wick from them, but I guess that sales are good because there're still no prices in the shop.

I find that to be one of the more infuriating things about shops. I'm really hoping to convert him to the Kanger tank or even the Kanger Aerotank Mega when it becomes available. He likes to have a lot of juice on hand and with his job, he doesn't have time to stop and refill. I'm hoping that the mega will do the trick for him. I've been nothing but happy with my Protank 3 since I bought it and I'm going to pick up the airflow controller here soon to fix the only gripe I've had with it. As for not putting on prices on things, I've had the same experience at my shop too. The mod I bought (A SmokTech ACE) wasn't priced at the store, and she told me $50, but when she rang it up, it was $75.00. Yeah... Not too happy about that.

I'm one of those rare peeps who is happy with my first gear; I am way past the break even point now as my 4 twisty type batteries and 8 or so tanks are fine for me. I'm not sure I'll ever bother with anything but a mini protank 2; out of the box it's great, but with just a few youtube vids (riptripper has a great one) you can turn it into a big cloud beast if that's your thing.

I'm going to buy myself a new bicycle for the summer with all the cash I am saving already.

That's when I would have put my wallet back in my pocket and walked away. They do this crap because consumers LET THEM. Be willing to walk away. Only then will they get the idea they need to change.

Same here. Still rockin' egos for on the go duty but did step up to an mvp2 for my at home unit. Still using bcc a year later too. Saved $500 my first year (1yr in May) and this year will be closer to $700.

This is a hobby to some people though. Personnel I'd much rather spend it on something else.

Man y'all r having a hard time, yes I have a B&M 3 minutes from my house, things are over priced but that's normal. Heck even one time I went in, of course no prices, and they told me one price for some cartos and a tank, and it was less, hope you guys have more luck with your locals!

some B&M's are just in it for the money...sad...

Sadly, this is true. I'm going to try out another store that I've been hearing things about to see what their selection is, mainly for a new experience and just for future references if I ever get in a pinch. But like a lot of people said, I like to order online when I can, and use B&M around here for emergency supplies.

Well I certainly expect my B&M to be in it for the money! if they weren't they wouldn't survive, and I would not have a ready stash of vaping wares and goods at my disposal. In fact I'd like them to earn a very comfortable living at it. but not at overly inflated prices or marginally functional products. Provide me with great service, products, and value, to earn my business. That's a way to get well supported by the local vaping community!

Wow me, beguile me, make me comfortable, and I'll be back often to see what you surprise me with next. Go ahead, put that impulse item, front and center in your store, and you know, I'll just have to have it NOW! Show me that new mod or atty you got stashed away, out of sight in that special drawer, as if you were saving it just for me... giving first shot at it ...

these are the things that bring people back, and open up checkbooks. these are the things that make us both profit.

Well said. The thing is there are stores like this, and then there is that person who has that idea "Oh these rubes will pay outrageous amounts for this stuff." And those are the stores you tell to kick rocks.

Just a bit of an update on this whole situation.

I did a little bit of fiddling/testing with the tank/atty combo and it is working smoothly. I went into the store the other day and talked with the employee that sold me my first APV for a good solid hour about DIY and whatnot, So the store has definitely gained back the respecti in my book it lost with this situation. I know that sometimes things go out of stock. It was all a case of this other employee not knowing his product and the person who did know the product not being there. And that's okay with me. Pass on the information, live and learn.

I'm with you guys 110%...I sprung for the MVP2 for the long vape time but otherwise I vape on the cheap and pocket the change.;)

One store close to me has a price sheet that they work off of. Would think it would just be easier to price things instead of having the customers ask you. THey did have a sheet of things that they were going to discontinue carrying and that was cool. but you still had to ask. They guy was nice, but annoying. lol He just kept talking to me even after I had walked away.
