If i had only one choice and left on a desert island,id go with the Kraken,SScable,28 ga mesh topping. The taste of cotton is too muted for me,i love the clean crisp taste that comes tru with all stainless and glass.I honestly think the KF tanks are hyped up too much.KF tanks are basically an over glorified Evod or Protank.

Isn't that the whole reason Kayfuns are so adored? Good taste with little effort and a sealed system.

There's always something better if you want to put in the time and deal with a couple of cons.

I dont understand why there isnt a ''hype'' on the SS cable wick with the mesh topping,am i the only one on the planet, except ''Rule 62''

No you're not the only one, I think many of us have used or use mesh and cable. I've got a Kraken and several other gennies that I use to use both in. I much prefer ceramic wick over meh and/or cable though and now it's all I use in my gennies.

I do think for a combination of flavor, travel on the go and ease of build nothing I've tried beats the Kayfun style. I use both and like both for different reasons. I don't see Kayfuns as being hyped, for a combination of home and travel while providing great consistent performance with and easy build there pretty hard to beat.

Have to admit I agree with your first post. Mainly posted as a "me too", tho :D

I use SS rope with mesh topping for my pocketable gennies. Makes it real easy to leak proof them. Just plug all other deck holes and go. The rope will wick more than sufficiently for my ~0.8 ohm builds anyway.

For some reason I do prefer straight 500-mesh for atties that don't need to be leak proofed, tho. Less heatsinking or something... can't really put my finger on it. I just prefer it :D

And yep... the Kraken is top shelf. Wouldn't trade mine for any number of Kayfuns. Just too much mocking about for a vape I don't enjoy quite as much.

I think many people have difficulty getting the mesh wick to work properly. Mesh size, roll tightness, etc.

I'm not slamming the Kraken in any way, I just think it is a greater challenge to get working properly hence the difference in interest.

I dont use mesh,SS aircraft cable.

I always carry my Kraken up right in a flashlight case,i sometimes plug the fill hole with a plastic `Q-tip stick when im riding my bike and stuff.I just pop out the stick when i settle down too vape,my case has tiny slot to hold the fill plug when needed. The Kraken is the mother of all Gennies.Everyone should have a Kraken i say.Vaping RY4 in this tank is the only way to go.I know the juice turns color with the SS style wicks, but thats just the reaction of the SS mesh sleeve topping .no biggie.,,tastes is still rocking. How can you beat glass tank with adjustable air flow ,you can dual coil it or even use cotton and ceramic.

I think I might enjoy my Kracken clone a lot more on a desert island, as I would have much more free time to work out all the hot spots. Since I am not bored on a desert island my kracken mostly just sits in my junk drawer. When I do manage to get the hot spots worked out it always seems to have a metal taste to the vape, or just random dry hits even while tilted. It leaks when it is on its side which mostly makes the tank worthless to me. It does work OK with a cotton build but falls short of my kayfuns with cotton. Maybe I just never got it working right but at this point I have spent about 50+ hours working on builds (I tend to get stubborn and not give up on things when I should) on both a kracken and a cobra clone. I just can't seem to build a genesis that works better than even a CE4.

In contrast my first kayfun build took less than 5 mins and worked great. Its a easy build that works great until the coil is gunked up or the tank runs empty. Great flavor and descent vapor production from a super easy build, whats not to love. Yeah the more I think about it the more the kayfun ins out in every aspect. I think I would take the kayfun with me.

A couple years ago, mesh gennies were all the rage. Then, a little while later, somebody came up with the idea of using other stuff for wicks, like ss cable, ceramic fish tank bubblers, etc. This past year, the kayfun types have been the rage. But there are still a bunch of us genny users out there.

i finally got me a kayfun and love it. Its my superman mech but nothing is gonna replace my kraken. Ekowool sleeves are perfect for the stainless steel rope.
