Well, ive had the Kraken now for a few weeks and love it,had the RSST for months and love it too,but i find i get a better vape from the RSST.It would be hard to pick one over the other because each has its own ''personalities''..that insulator in the wick hole of the RSST makes it a great tank, but the air holes, glass and reduced chamber on the Kracken is great too. This is why i have both, its hard too choose. If anyone can come up with an idea to make and insulator for the Kracken wick hole, let it be known.

Update: i have a spare RSST tank,im thinking of drilling out the hole in the Kraken and using the inslator from the Extra RSST tank, this would make it the mother of all tanks.

The insulated wick hole in the RSST is a good thing for beginning builders, but as you become more proficient, you'll find that it's an unnecessary crutch. This is because once the ss wick is properly oxidized, it is non conductive. The coil will work properly and glow evenly whether the wick hole is insulated or not.

an idea... get the insulator from the bottom of a protank coil and put that in the hole which needs to be insulated??

WOW...thats a great idea, worth a look.ill let ya know if i attempt this modifcation and if it works,i have too be careful if i drill cause the fill hiole is very close to the postive post.

Im a SS roper,i torch the hell outta the rope but it dont turn black,i wonder if this affects the conductivity, the mesh turns black tho.Maye ill try a all mesh wick in the monster Kracken tank.BTW,the wick holes in the Kaken have threads,me thinks this affect conductivity in some way,id like too drill out the threads and see what happens, ill bet it will be spot on.Im thinkn the threads ''bite '' into the wick and cause it to ''heat sink''.

kraken stomps the rsst for vape and flavor!!! dual wick on kraken is awesome... and the flav is great.. you must be doing something wrong!!!

i kinda agree the only other atty i have tha can compare to the kraken is the megatron, they just need to make like a 5 ml kraken and it would be perfect lol, even in single wick mode the clouds are absurd.

I've been using some ss rope lately. The Kraken came with a couple pieces included in the box, so I figured I'd fool around with it. It works great. Wicks really well. I don't torch the rope at all. I wrap a small piece of mesh around the top, just where the coil goes, and pulse oxidize it, after wrapping the coil. I've been very pleased with it, so far.

kraken with twin s.s. wick .8 ohm on a nemi clone with sony 30amp!!!! big clouds!!!

just a note as well... a lot of the clones do not have a reduced chamber, its one are where they will always cut corners, (no pun intended) in order to save on machining costs, also the quality of the steel..ive seen pic of the fast tech kraken clone all rusty after being in water for a day or so.. i dont mind cloned mods but the atty part, i'd rather pay a few bucks more knowing it proper grade s.s.

IMO any genny can be made to be as good as the next regardless of cost. It all comes down to the chamber size, build and airflow. Currently I'm running a .4ohm dual with cotton and a 7/64 air hole. Its basically a dripper without the inconvenience. For me there isn't any reason to get a different atty. I've tried a kraken once with a cable build and compared to my vapor chucking RSST it was meh at best. But then again if you're not a fan of cotton I could see how a kraken would be better.

I like the RSST better than my Infinite Kraken clone too. For one, the air holes don't line up perfectly on the Infinite Kraken and it irks me. I can back the threaded cap/cover a slight bit to get it to line up but then it's a tad wobbly. Works great otherwise, but not as good as the RSST, accessorized with a silver plated pin from Ninja Mods, and a plastic cap reducer from Fusionmods. The latter make a great difference on the RSST.

To add, I bet a kraken would leak if left on its side to long.

Depends on how you build it. I see heavyrocker use wire rope, so he could just plug up all other deck holes and have a perfectly leak proof gennie.

Personally I wouldn't bother with insulating the wick hole. Once it's set up and hotspots are shorted, you won't notice any difference anyway. You just sacrifice "permanent" wick hole size for ease of initial setup. What an insulated wick hole DON'T do, is insulate individual coil wraps from eachother. So you can still suffer shorts and hotspots if not prepped properly. Anyway, with wire rope you probably wick enough for wick hole size not to matter that much anyway.

With a mesh layer between rope and wick there really shouldn't be a lot of difference from setting up a straight mesh wick.
