Glad to be of any help I can! My journey started with the M401, not good. Then a KR808, better but not enough. Next was a Prodigy V3.1 at 6 volts, now we're talkin'! Then 5 volt boxes and PTs, a sweet spot. Sadly I was ripped off for $250 worth of equipment including the Prodigy. I ended up here looking for a VV mod and couldn't be happier thanks to James. I've spent a small fortune (but less than I would have on analogs) and I don't care 'cuz I'm donesmokin!

just finished my rough draft carrying case for my transparent blue 2x2. I purchased a pelican 1020 micro case after a thorough search online to find the most efficient case for my mod and necessary accessories. next I went to a local arts and crafts store and purchased 3/8 inch and 1/16 inch foam rubber. I think it's foam rubber, maybe closed cell foam, either way it's rather rigid but still flexible and pliable. to save all the effort of making everything fit tightly when open, I built the case in layers so that when closed, the case itself locks everything in place. this method also makes everything easier to remove when open. the batteries and the bottle differ minutely in depth and I'm still working on the right ammount of layers to hold the bottle from rattling very slightly when shaking the case closed. will prob just leave it that way though because extra pressure on the bottle may cause a leak. I wanted to keep everything as low in the case as possible so if I'm walking with the case open, nothing falls out. I purchased a few project squares, ruler, hobby knife set, and a gridded project board to cut the foam due to the need of nice clean square cuts. for now everything is dry fitted and ready for field testing. I'll use it at work a few days before gluing and lining with fabric. as some of you are aware,m I'm a dirty, filthy landscaper/mason who's pockets collect dirt, stone dust, and brick dust. I use a bobcat loader, dry saw, and wet saw on a regular basis. my needs were a durable case that not only could survive job site hazards, but also enough power and liquid to make it through a long day, or even the next day if I forget to charge up and juice up. here's a few pics for ya.

Nifty little case you got there man, I like it.

So I've been quiet because I've been working on a pretty custom box. It's a normal Krescendo only with a few spins and some cool customizations on it. It's got drip wells, a stainless steel small button that's only 2 amp so I had to run a mosfet chip on it but it turned out really nice, tell me what you guys think:

This is what could happen to Lithium-Ion batteries if shorted... I would much rather have an IMR Safe Chemistry battery which only vents gas with no flames.. The battery does not have to be in the mod or PV to short.. This could happen during charging with a faulty battery or charger. Here is a 3 volt Li-Ion battery:

Lithium battery in ice block explodes - YouTube

A 3.6 Li-Ion battery as used in some mods:

Lithium 3.6 Volts battery explosion - YouTube

Just food for thought... :)
The first vid was done with 170v. Also both batteries were dead (i.e. no longer would recharge) and intentionally overloaded with extremely high voltage. The same results would occur with any battery put under those extreme circumstances. Just a point worth noting. Fun to watch but definitely not real world occurrences. At least not the way we use them.

Anyhow, nice mods. I've been lurking and checking these out. I like the 18650 VV BF. :hubba:

FANTASTIC build James. The Krescendo Red Dragon turned out VERY well thanks to your attention to detail. :thumb: The voltage adjustment knob turned out sweet, the large drip wells are quite useful, and the inside electronics are well placed. :)

It was worth the wait, and I will be happy when it arrives to enjoy clouds of flavorful vape. :vapor:

Thank you for making it a special mod which I will enjoy using, and showing-off.. :2cool:

EDIT: Excuse the editing.. I was in the Emergency Room for 6 hours today, anf was given a couple shots of Demerol, and pain meds...

THX for the info. I figured the battery thing was "blown" out of proportion.

Except for the fact that IMR High Drain batteries would NOT have vented flames or exploded like the videos have shown. As said before, it is a Safe Chemistry Battery.

AGAIN... I do not believe the staff of a forum, which I am an Supporting Member of, would just say "Hey! Let's see how many forum members we can fool by giving them incorrect information about batteries. It is important info for the 100's of new members of ECF looking for guidance on the safest and best performing battery, as well as all members who may have not known of ECF's recommended, safest type of battery to use.

I have no stock in AW batteries. I am just pointing out info which ANYONE here on ECF can find. If my posts help just one or two people who may have been burned or injured by a faulty battery, shorted atty, or a faulty battery charger, It was well worth my time and effort to post info.

To the rest who think it's overblown, or think the staff of ECF is lying to them, or whatever reason, there is always the old saying "You Can Lead A Horse To Water, But You Cannot Make Him Drink"

The info is out there... These are not 1.5V batteries you can pick up in a grocery store.. They can serve us well, or can be dangerous, and injure us.

One More Time.... HERE is the link to the ECF Forums Battery Recommendation Thread.

actually forgive his extremely british accent, the first battery is 570 volts, the second was 370 volts. multiple attempts were made to get a good explosion for the second video, some just vented.
also it should be noted that just because the aws have a lesser rate of fire, they still heat up to extreme temperatures and the gas emitted during failure is toxic. please do realize that any battery failure will be a major concern to your health and your mod. I would still feel safer if they had a built in protection circuit.

I'm not going to debate the subject further.. Until ECF recommends another battery type which is more advanced in safety and performance than the IMR High Drains, I will stick with the many hours of research the ECF staff, and other degreed forum battery experts put into the Rechargable Battery thread, and many other threads regarding the subject.

I can leave this thread with the knowledge I was PM'ed by 5 folks who read my posts here, thanking me for making this information available, and answering further questions for some on the subject. ;) :)

Well I for one have gotten enough information on the subject to make a decision on my purchase. The debate has certainly helped me learn allot more about batteries and their safe use. I think either choice is a safe one and there are going to be some folks who swear by one or the other and that's okay too. That's the great thing about living in America....
We get to choose.;)

Peace..... bullymom

yes I agree to disagree. you are right, there will always be differences in opinion on anything in the world of vaping. I'm sure others are more educated on different types of batteries, amperage outputs, milliamp hour ratings, and the difference between lithium ion and lithium manganese batteries. what mod did you order anyway? did you get it yet or is is on james's bench still?

on another note, my case has a lot of square cuts in the foam. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on the best way to fabric around all the corners without too many layers that would throw off the pattern on the fabric. I might just leave it the way it is or paint it because my head hurts thinking how to bend the fabric around all the corners without leaving a nasty crease in the fabric :mad::mad:.

So, what kind of juice does everyone like? I have gone to tobacco flavors for awhile, then sweet bakery juices such as Boston Cream Pie / Snickerdoodle, and then fruit flavors like apple. At the moment, I am back around to enjoying RY4 and 555.

The beauty of Jame's VV mods is the ability to dial-in the perfect voltage for whichever type of juice one likes. I find higher voltages good for tobacco types, and lower voltages for sweet / bakery..

Pineappledan, I think the case is beautiful. You may have to start up your own business when people get a look at that thing. You could customize them for individuals. LOL But then you would have to work like James and never have time for yourself.

I haven't gotten my lil man evercool with display in red with all silver attachments yet, it's still a twinkle in James eye for now but I hope by Christmas. I am really looking forward to learning how to use it so I know where to come with all my questions.:)

Technonut, thanks for the tip on what settings to try for which flavors. Thats the kind of info I really need. I feel a bit intimidated getting a vv but I've seen so many forum members rave about the taste of juices at different volts. I have a buddy on here who just got her first mod from James and she got the basic bottom feeder and she is thrilled with the difference it has made with her vaping experience. She says the flavors are so much purer with the mod and she has been amazed with it. Thanks to her I had to have one of my own.

I love Don's juices. I love Malty and CAN"T wait to try it on my mod. It's very thick and I have been vaping with a 1.7 resurrector on my eGo. I am looking forward to dripping it but not sure exactly the best atty to get. So far I have not been a fan of dripping and I hope that will change. Also love his ry4, ejoker, and want to try his 555 exotic next. Tonight I have three eGo batteries loaded up with, BWB Malty, BWB VAnilla Bean, and Ms T's snickerdoodle cookie. Just taking turns with them.

I have fallen in love with Ms T's snicker doodle cookie and strawberry shortcake. Which snicker doodle cookie do you like best??

I love rich, sweet flavors and after looking at the "2011 best juice" list.... I want to grab some of that Bounty Hunter, if it's even possible to get and the kona coffee milkshake sounds pretty good too. If anyone has any suggestions for sweet gooey rich desert juices I'd love to hear them!!!

bullymom, I actually enjoy designing and building a case interior, but without having the mod in hand, I will not build an interior. you see, a case cannot be built by dimensions alone. the foam itself also varies and must be cut multiple times even with my blue 2x2 in hand. thank you for your praise in my effort but a tailor does his best work while the customer is wearing the suit. I do not own a littleman, do not have your batteries, and do not know your case needs. my personal level of customization is designed by what I have in hand and will only offer tips to achieve the same result. thank you for your appreciation for my mod case.
technonut, I vape rootbeer from flavor west, mixed with 50/50 pg/vg, using 18mg/ml nicotine from rtsvapes.com. I hope you love your mod as much as i love mine.
you're the second person I know of that will have the mosfet built in and hope your arrangement hits harder than you've ever expected. james, please let me know if my 2x2 is the first sold mod using the awesome mosfet system! you should charge more for the mosfet system because of the extra work you have to put in. it works awesome and performs flawless in my mod!

got a little tip for all using one of james's 3ml bottom feed mods. leave some room in the bottle after filling. when you 're ready to pop on the top and tubing assembly, squeeze the bottle and release pressure as you put the drip tip on. If you don't, the pressure formed inside the bottle will leak out the drip tip, on to your hands.
