I guess there is a trick to it. The video I watched said to not put any pressure on it, let it do it's own thing.

I use a coil tool similar to this and it works fine. I have a small vise that I clamp it in.

Hey gandymarsh, the promotional video makes it look easy :)
I don't know whether it's because the one I got is a clone but the coils kept overlapping.
Easier and neater for me with the drill bit :thumb:

Don't put any pressure on it as you're twisting. It'll naturally compress the coils.

From what I've read, the cloned Kuro Coilers can suck and result in overlapping coils. In my experience, the bona fide units work great. It's sad when people have bad experiences with cloned goods and then taint the reputation of the original (you were careful not to do this, so my comment is not directed at you).

My cloned drill bit works pretty darn good.

Ordered one from Amazon, arrived today.
Could tell immediately it was a clone.
    Thought I'd try it anyway...
Suffice to say I'm using my 2mm drillbit again.
Oh well, another lesson learnt :-x

Thirty seconds, predictable repeatable results. You need to oxidize Kanthal for a non-shorting contact microcoil, the most power in the least space. Think contact patch on a performance tire.

(This, plus all the methods you might need for installing in anything.)

    Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!
Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Pipe up and some experienced vet will step up to lend a hand.

    Good luck all.

    :)
