L2 510 Batteries falling apart?!

I have two L2 510s, and have the same two problems with both of them:

1) The black rubber button you depress to turn the manual battery "ON", kept falling out. Now, for those who have seen these little suckers, imagine me, on hands and knees, in my skirt, in the dark, in the cold, with a pen-sized flashlight hanging out of my mouth, searching about 20 square-feet of black asphalt at the local Park n' Ride at 4am for that bleepin' button. Not a pretty sight. Seriously. I've had to search the entire main floor of my local community college, two aisles at the local craft store, and yes, the actual freezer at my favorite grocery store for these suckers (they always seem to pop out at the worst time... like they *know* I'll be terribly inconvenienced.) I finally lost both buttons for good, pulled the buttons out of my old set of Innovapor manual batts (the ones that both failed within one week), and peeled the edges off those and stuffed 'em in the battery holes of the two L2s. However, it's a lousy fit, they often get stuck in the "ON" position, and it just plain *looks* ugly.

2) The LED caps on the end of the batteries are also always falling out. Fortunately, these are a bit bigger than the battery button, so easier to find, but I have permanently lost one of them, and don't anticipate the other sticking around too much longer (I even tried supergluing them, which was a huge fail, since I was trying to keep the glue off the inner workings and glue plastic to metal, and the trusty 'ole glue gun, which was also a fail for the same reasons. I eventually took a sequin... yes! a sequin (well, it was either that or one of those clear plastic bubbles with the white back and a black circle bouncing around inside to make it look like a googily eye!!!), put a teensy dollop of glue gun glue on it, and stuck it to the tip of the LED light. Where it sits daintily, doing prolly nothing to keep dust, etc., out, but at least making me feel all... girlie... inside, whilst I vape.

So, my questions are: 1) has anyone else had these problems, and 2) how did *you* solve them? I haven't actually looked (mostly 'cuz I can't imagine paying shipping and handling for them) but I'm guessing you can't just buy buttons and tips for these things online, right?!

Thanks a mil!

Well... I really can't help you with the basic L2 battery problems. I consider the L2 batteries to be "dangerous" and we have set ours aside.

But.. the mental image of you on your hands and knees in the skirt... well, thanks for the memories... ;)

Ya know, that image didn't even occur to me!!!And, I'm usually such a deliberate shameless flirt (hey! you would be, too, if you found yourself single for three years right dab in the middle of your sexual prime!!) :p

Hi Ever,
have you tried super glue?

Oh good grief. That is funny.

... to answer your question: I can't superglue the button - kinda makes it hard to depress, ya know? I did try using superglue on the LED cap thingie - no dice. The cap is plastic and the e-cig is stainless steel so the superglue didn't want to work. :(

But, I *really* appreciate the suggestion!

Okay, so I tried using super glue to stick the button I ganked from a dead e-cig (the one that wasn't a perfect fit). I basically put a dab on the bottom of the button, and a dab on the itsybitsy piece inside the battery that gets depressed when you push the button (hey! you'd be sad, too, if someone was always pushing your buttons! groan Sorry.) Anyway, it was a major fail, the super glue just doesn't want to work to make a rubber piece and a plastic-ish piece stick together.

I realize I'm kinda talking to myself here, but figured, someone else might have a similar problem, in which case, they can learn from my failures.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Just a minor update, if anyone cares - I recently found a suitable (but not perfect) replacement for the missing buttons on my manual batteries. (I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem!!)

Basically, I used an eraser from a mechanical pencil, whittled it down to the right shape/size with an exacto, and have been using that with some success.

Just thought I'd share, in case anyone else ever loses their buttons. (Buttons, buttons, who's got the buttons?!)

:p
