Anyone ever had a cat who played fetch? Anyone ever had a cat who played fetch with just one particular toy? That's Penny. It has to be her green mousie that no longer has ears, eyes, or a tail. Well, about 2 weeks ago the green mousie went missing. I can't find it anywhere. It's probably under the dresser in the downstairs bedroom, but I haven't been desperate enough to move it. So I took an orange mousie and I even cut the tail off of it. It still has eyes and ears though. I've been tossing it for her, and she runs to it and sniffs it, but won't pick it up in her mouth and bring it back to me. Until last night. All of a sudden she decided it was a suitable replacement for the green mousie. I'm not sure who's happier, me or Penny. I missed playing fetch with her!

That's hysterical Fudgey! I don't think I've ever seen a cat toss something with their mouth! They bat toys around. But we have carpet in most of our house, so the toys don't go far when they bat them. I'm amazed sometimes when I find toys on one floor when I know they were on the other floor. I know one of the cats had to have carried it in their mouth. And some of these are larger than I would expect a cat to be able to carry! We have a plush dog bone that came with a feeding set. I really didn't expect any of the cats to play with it. It's about 6 x 2 inches, and about an inch thick. Angus loves it! He carries it all over the house, making his "I killed it and it's mine!" meowl. But Angus thinks he's a dog.

I haven't had any who'd fetch, but our cat with all the extra toes, we called the "cog" -- half cat half dog! He would walk right through the puddles or light rain, just like a dog. When we'd go out in the woods on our property (checking fence, lookings for goats etc) it would be the dogs and him, right on our heels! :) He heeled better than the dogs did! Now we think Louie may be a cog -- he chews on things, tears things up, has that laid-back dog kind of attitude! Time will tell, I guess!

Okay, good news bad new. Good news, Nomad's doing great and he's going Monday to have the vet "change his mind," as my Mom calls it! (We'd just gotten him tame enough to catch him when he disappeared, so we didn't get him in before.) Bad news, I just called yesterday and we used to have to wait 2 months for a surgery appointment. That means, a) our darling vet whom we've used for years and adores is hurting for business (they've already cut their hours), and b) people aren't bringing their animals in like they should! :( Both are disturbing to me!
