I too loathe shoe shopping. I thought I was the only one! I usually wear one or two pairs of sensible shoes to work. Any heel higher than 2" is an automatic no.

Your sister-in-law sounds like a classic buttinski. What skin is it off her nose if you have a lot of handbags? If you robbed starving children to buy them, it's a problem. If you spent the rent money, ditto. If your spent your own hard-earned money, it is NONE OF HER (EDITED) BUSINESS.

No, no, y'all aren't alone. I hate it, too. I wear a size 12 W, so shoe shopping is anything but pleasant for me. I can't buy shoes at places like Rack Room or anything, and I sure can't get pretty shoes because once you move into my size they stop being pretty and start looking like bad drag queen. Nothing with a low toe, which kills me because Mary Janes are adorable, they just look terrible on me. Nothing open sided. I once bought what I thought was the most perfect pair of shoes, but it was a cataloge buy. They were toe and heel, then a ribbon went up the leg like ballet shoes. LOVED those shoes. I got them, put them on, and swear to God it looked like my foot had eaten part of the shoe. My foot was all over those shoes. Heart broken. I still have the darn things, too, don't have the heart to throw them away.

Those shoes really do sound beautiful! I have had a few items like that myself...perfect item, would look adorable on anyone else, but pretty sure it looks awful when on me. And I never have the heart to throw those things out either :(

Add me to the hate shopping group as well. I've put on weight this year, and none of my swimsuits fit now....and living in Florida, you have to have a swimsuit. So last week I did the dreaded swimsuit shopping trip. Awful, just awful. Not sure how they determine what size they put on those darn things, I think they throw a dart at a dart board. I finally lucked out and found one lone pair of nike board shorts at Kohl's, and after trying on at least 30 of those stupid mono tops that are so popular this year, I decided my old swim tops would have to work with a tank top thrown over them.

Sorry, but HAHAHA!

I am 5'11'' and wear a size 10-11 shoe.

I'm constantly feeling like most of the shoes in my size seem to have at least 3" heels, which, at my height, just looks ridiculous...

I go for comfortable. Which seems to mean 'old-lady shoes', but whatever. I'm on my feet alot and comfort is a must!
Best shoes for combination comfort and style are 'Strictly Comfort' JC Penny's brand.

I was in San Francisco a couple of years ago for a conference and had forgot my shoes so I went to a specialty shoe shop for large sized shoes. I was trying on some shoes when an absolutely beautiful blonde woman came in - I mean, gorgeous - and I'm happily married.
I just goggled at her out of the corner of my eye until the shoe helper lady went over to her and asked if she could help her.
The blonde answered in the deepest masculine bass voice I've ever heard -
I took a closer look and saw her adam's apple...
Ha!
(She was still gorgeous though. Sigh...)

I love it! I am originally from NY, so that was actually common. But I have noticed that the guys who do it right can be out of this world gorgeous. A guy did a video on YouTube on how he transforms himself into a woman, and he looked like a model!

I'll try to find where I stashed those shoes. If I can dig them out of storage, I'll "pay them forward." Maybe someone can actually enjoy them.

My mom threw out all of my childhood ones when we were estranged for a few years. I was SO MAD lol, even though they probably looked like your daughter's did - messy hair, dog-chewed feet, some with hair cuts and magic marker "make-up."

I've gone a bit overboard with the new ones, though. I have two signed by their voice actors. (you can see the signature on Fluttershy, the yellow one, in the pic).

Oh, and two more (plush Twilight Sparkle and Derpy Hooves)
