Ladies, what are your holiday plans?

Normal madhouse at my sisters again this Thanksgiving....stocking up on tylenol....

Funny thing is, I don't eat meat...lol...I've requested menu's of the side items

the sides are always my favorite part of the meal anyway

Yeah a little turkey goes a long way...but agree on loving all the sides !

Don't eat Turkey, it's too dry unless it's fried, but we've had a few accidents with those...

I eat a small piece of ham, but the sides and pies are what it's all about!!!

Unfortunately they'd all be second hand stories, since I never actually saw it happen. There was a fire, and a spill; fortunately no injuries or property loss lol

didn't they used to use large vats of boiling oil as weapons? just sayin'

I've only had a fried turkey once, and didn't really care for it. That's probably because my grandpa usually makes gravy from the drippings, and then I smother my turkey it in. When we deep fried it, there was obviously no drippings, therefore we used 'fake' gravy. Blech, nasty stuff.

Yep... gotta make the gravy proper !!!

Going to MIL's for dinner. DH and I can't stand his sister and boyfriend. We're only going because MIL is getting up in age and to see our nephew. We won't stay long because DH has to work on friday which is actually a Godsend.

Enjoy the time with your MIL and nephew Hairball. It is nice to have an excuse to not stay too long if you don't want to

ha..yea...we plan on pretty much getting out of there quickly too if as many people show up as usual...

My parents have told me they have a bunch of stuff planned for while I'm in Phoenix....they're in their 70's and and have way more energy than i do. I may need a day off to rest when i get home

When we do ours, we smoke it on the off side smoker. No real drippings then either, though we do put a pan under it for the small amount of drippings and it does improve the gravy a bit.
We buy turkey necks and legs, roast em in the oven then make gravy from that. Works just as good and enough legs to go around to all the kids who want to look like cavemen.
