Well :)

I've been promoting Finland as much as I can (and there's nobody to deny that fact :) so I decided to start up a new thread for pretty much that reason only. Therefore that leaves nobody to rant about it, am I right :) :D And I promise to stay within this thread, at least when it comes to promoting Finland :)

I, personally, of course hope that you fellow americans (and other nationalities as well) join me in discussion and give me some insights and thoughts. I always love to hear about what you think about my puny videos etc :)

To be perfectly honest, I guess I've been pretty much a jerk and driving you all mad by pushing my national pride all over you....
But hey, Finland is such a small country so I hope you understand. All we he have is our national pride. We are small all right, I got it, but you know what? We also have some good things going! Really? Oh yea we do!

Let's look for some of those....

Mist, I think the movie you are referring to is the one called "Rare Exports" am I right? The weird Christmas story? If so, I agree - it's a pretty strange one, although quite funny also :D

When it comes to heavy metal music, well it's one of those things what you either love or hate. There's usually no middle ground. But that's all right, I don't mind :)

Btw, not everyone in Finland is a truly devoted metal head. Many of them just take it as a part of our culture, even thou statistically we have a fairly big audience who's really going for it. I guess it helps to appreciate and/or like metal music if one has been constantly influenced by it over the years - like me for instance :) I dunno... potatoes,potatos...big deal :)

To make sure, that people don't get wrong ideas....For those, who think that Finnish sauna experience always includes that "sucking out of bad blood" thing, I have pleasant news - it doesn't. It really does not. It's very rare indeed. To my knowledge, there are only couple of places in Finland where that kind of activity is even an option - and btw it's always an option (duh :) ) - so no need to worry. :)

So I guess Anthony is just doing it for the sake of the good TV-show, or whatever. I, personally, haven't seen such a sauna with that option in my whole life - so far. And I'm 40 yrs old...

That Anthony Bourdain's Finland visit gives an impression that most of the native Finns are drunk all the time. Well, not exactly true (as you might have guessed already) :)

The thing is, that this country could not possibly be amongst the top performing countries in education and technology if we were wasted all the time.

Well, to be honest. We like to work hard and party hard. When it's time to work, we work - and when it's time to party...you know the deal :) That's how we roll. And in these freezing conditions - who wouldn't? :2cool:
