My first reo, a reo grand, will be here tomorrow and I kind of want to engrave the front plate. I have access to a laser engraver or two thanks to my job. I don't do much laser engraving (friends at work will be running the laser engraver) but I know that material type is important to know when you're shooting a laser at something. What type of aluminum are the metal reos made of? Have any of you successfully engraved a metal reo? Did you have to do anything special?

6061 Aluminum There were a few done when I was just anodizing mods they came out great . I haven't seen any done on the powder coated finish . You can buy a blemished door from me and use it as a test subject

How much does just a door cost? :)

Just do it......then if it messes up, get a new door. Nothing to lose. Even if it messes up, it'll still work as a door until you can order a replacement. I'll bet it'll turn our GREAT. Can't wait to see it.

I think regular doors (not blems) used to sell for $20.

After holding and feeling the grand I've decided I don't want to engrave the outside. I am however, going to engrave the inside of the door because it is raw aluminum and not powder coated. I'm going to put some contact information in the hopes that if I lose the reo somebody will return it to me, and maybe a little design.
