Thanks, it's nice to be back

And in a couple of days I'll be able to tell if the bath helped my lappy or hurtted it. At least the hard drive and battery came out dry so there's a slight chance the drenching didn't kill it, but since it was plugged in for the animal games I'm pretty sure it's dead :/

It was plugged in at the time, so even though it was turned off the charging circuitry being active could easily have been pushing current through the part of the board that got drenched in soda. I unplugged it as quick as I could (which was actually a fair amount of time after it happened) and removed all the removable bits. Looked like the main board was still dry, so I held it under the sprayer in the kitchen sink to destickyfy it and have all the various pieces drying in a closet. I'll hit it with a hairdryer tonight to see if any water droplets move around, and if not I'll pop everything back together Thursday afternoon and see if it fires up.

I'm hoping it still works, since it's my main computer--it may be a five year old laptop, but it was still the most powerful computer in the house (the PS3 no count no more since they took the Other OS function away and I had to accept the newer firmware to keep the wimminfolk's Feeding Frenzy and Netflicks). And I have $9 worth of Umbrella Corp stickers on the case...
