Yeah, 2.7 ohm would be fine on a VV but not so much fun on 3.7 volts or lower.
I started low and kept going up until I got a little bit of vapor. Even at low voltage it gave a big throat hit.
I stopped going up at 8v because it was too much

Uh, holy friggin' hell? 8V? That's massive. Something else is going on and I really couldn't say what.
I'm presuming you meant 8 watts? (Not volts) - I don't know a thing about VW

If it was 8 volts that explains plenty! Actually I don't think 2.7 ohms could handle 8 volts - it would be burnt tasting
Go up to the stickies - ask a PIF mod or vet and ask there / we have plenty of vets - some might have the answers
A friend suggested that I space the coils closer together. It helped a lot.
Ah, 8 Watts. That's actually really low. I've never really played with rebuildable atomizers so I'm not sure how much the atomizer is responsible for the massive throat hit. Unless those fiberglass wicks are working a little too well. I'm guessing you either want to play with the wick or cut your juice with a lot of PG. I dunno.
I blame it on all the window-cleaner slowly evaporating into the air because no seems to think cleaning windows is much of a prize.
