Lavatube...buy or not?

I'm stuck between a rock and hard place. Should I get the LT (lavatube) I got a maxi rs v2 (awesome) and 4 18650's....
I want a VV PV and the price and the features are awesome. But...vaping at 3.7v with a LR 306 is prime with my RS...
Any advice? If I do get the LT I think I'm gonna sell my maxi rs v2 (its only about 2 weeks old)...do any of you guys know if the LT can take trustfire/ultrafire/etc 18650's (with the nipple?)
Any convincing advice will either make me buy the LT or stick with my RS.
Thoughts?

None of the ----fire batteries with the nipple will work, they are too long to screw the bottom cap on
AW IMR batteries with a nipple will work, they are the right length. If you buy the LT kit,I think it comes with 2 batteries, but ain't real sure about that.

The kit does not come with 2 batteries. However, if one adds a battery to the kit order, it then qualifies for 'free 2nd day shipping'...something like that. So an added battery pays for itself, more or less. Also, if this is a first time order, there is a coupon code for 10% off, I believe. So, if you are a new customer, for a nominal $100 you should be able to get a 2nd battery and free 2nd day shipping. Verify the details for yourself, but as I recall, it's $100.78.

Stevevape.com has a pretty extensive review of these. (I don't know how to put websites on here....technologically challenged old lady).

I'll fix that for you :) Lavatube Variable Voltage e-Cigarette: Impressions

Anyway, to answer the question, the Lavatube is a pretty good entry into the vari-volt thing and should work with LR atties at 3.7. Its real weak point, like the ProVari is with dual coils, the protection circuit will kick in and drop the voltage to 3.7v if you try to go any higher than 3.7v with them. Otherwise for the price its worthy of consideration. To the OP, as far as the batteries go, you could potentially sell them along with the RS if you decide to go that route.

here's my :2c: a unregulated 3.7v PV starts off strong when the battery is fresh off the charger then the proformance slow drops as the battery drains and you end up recharging your battery way before they really need to be charged with a vv pv you set the voltage and it stays here untill the battery completely drains. my vote is for a vv PV

and just a quick reply to the above post I can run both my provaris with 1.5 ohms dcc at 4.1v but it drains the battery fast so I'm better served by running 2.5ohms dcc

thanks for all the input...but the question remains...(I only want/need 1 pv) keep my rs or get the lt...
but I have 4 18650s I don't wanna waste them...

You won't be able to use your Fire 18650s with the Lavatube, they are to long plus they don't have enough amperage output to give you the full voltage range. The AW IMR 18650 or the flat top IMR 18650s that come in the kit will work with it.

You can still use your LR attys with it at 3.7-4.2 just like your Roughstack. The difference is with the Lava it'll stay at a consistent voltage unlike the RS which isn't regulated and drops voltage with the battery, to me that's a + for vv and the Lava but only you can decide.

To me it's a no brainer but that goes with any vv, the price here just makes it that much more attractive. You could sell your RS and batteries and recoup a major portion of the cost and wind up with MUCH more versatility with the voltage scale, have on/off capability, be able to check your remaining battery capacity and also be regulated at any voltage you choose, even if you only choose to use it as at the same voltage as you do your roughstack.

It depends on the carto with mine. Most can go 3.9 or so without problems, after that, some will get me an E1 or E2 any higher, some won't. I think it depends on where the carto meters out since they can swing between 1.3 and 1.7, the higher it meters the higher the volts can go for me. I usually just run single coil smoktechs (1.7) at 3.9v in a tank, those work great for me.

I think I read somewhere on the provari forums that the newer booster chips cut off is some where between 2.5-2.8amps my dcc are metering at 1.5ohms

back on topic (sorry my mind wanders) I think if you got a lavatube and for some reason didn't like it you could sell it on the classified pretty fast or you could just pm and I'd buy it from you :)

This is a pretty good technique. In fact, I guarantee I'll buy the first one offered to me in like new condition for 70% of retail.
