Hey all

I am having an issue after my first attempt at rebuilding a kanger pro tank 2 atty.

I did 5 coils of 28g around 3mm silica while watching grim green do it. I put the atty
on the lavatube and read the resistance. 0.6 ohms. I tried to fire it up but the lavatube
returns the message "lo ohms" and refuses to.

What am i doing wrong? thanks.

Generally most regulated mods are not going to fire anything below about 1.2ohm's.

The "lo ohms" message is essentially the mod telling you "I can't/won't fire this".

You either need to increase the # of wraps to get to a resistance that the mod will fire, or up your gauge of wire to achieve the same result.

This limitation also helps to show why people move to mech mods to vape sub-ohm.

*EDIT* Also .6 is probably a bit low for a PT head, sticking too much heat in that tiny area can scorch the grommet pretty easy.

I'm no expert but from what I've read and watched on youtube, you can make a nice nano coil with 12 wraps on a 5/64 drill bit. Search for the poster rip trippers. He gives an excellent video on it.

ok thanks. 5 wraps = .6
6 wraps is giving me .7

i dunno if there is room for the wraps i need to get it to 1.2

Well, if you don't have any 30g or 32g wire, then try to squeeze a micro in there (as mentioned above).

Have any smaller silica or some cotton possibly?

Wrap a 10-11 wrap micro coil, and see if you can fit that in there.

nano coils are testing fine until i put the cap and stack back on. then they read 0 or .3 or something.

If that happens, your coil is touching the Cap or shifting to the side.

A Mechanical Mod has no wiring or circuitry. It is battery and Mechanical switch only.

Better if you get proper size wire and build for 1.5 ohms and up for now.

trying to get over 1 ohm in a kanger coil body with 28 gauge kanthol is not eazy congrats!!! you might try and do an inverted micro coil if you feel frogy just because it is way eazier to fit that much wire in there , as shown here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-micro-coil-build-aro-evod-protank-heads.html but yeah seriously once you use up the 28 gauge or get tired of stuffing a 10 turn coil in a kanger coil body, go with at least 30 I would say 32 gauge.
