IT`s the switch, the button you press, its only rated to 2.5 amps, so they put a current limiter in, if you try to go over 2.5 amps it drops the voltage automatically.

Ahh that makes sense. Lately I've been having problems with the unit firing. Seems switch related. Going to test to see if it happens at lower volts. Not that this anything to do with the current limiter.

I just received my new 1.5 LT and it is rated at 3 amps. It also displays the resistance of carto with one click of the button. This is the only place I know that has them for sale right now, Variable Voltage 1.5 Mod - Penny 's Store
