i'm thinking of upgrade from a ego twist to a VW and deciding between a lavatube and a vamo. what are the difference between the two? or are they pretty much the same thing w/ a different name?

or should i even opt for something like sigelei telescope/zmax?

my so many choices!

I've noticed you wanted VW - the lavatuve is vv (variable voltage) only, not vw (variable wattage) as well. Some-one mentioned provari - that is not vw either. So if you want vv and vw then the Vamo is the one, or a Sigelei Zmax. There are others - the Innokin SVD is a good mod as well. The Tesla is ok - does leave the battery partly exposed but some people like the look. Its not any more reliable than the others, its ok. I have looked at some of the main vw mods on my blog if you're interested, with pics:

Actually the Tesla is more reliable then the others. You can read the Zmax thread to see just how reliable they are, and then perform a search on ECF and google to see that the Tesla doesn't have the reliability problems of the Zmax, Vamo or the Lava tube.

I've talked to many Tesla owners by now and I've only found 3 that had to be sent back. The few problems that were brought up were easily fixed by the owner. All they had to do was make sure the end cap spring was in its proper channel and the problem was resolved.

Not as many people appear to have bought Teslas. As I said, they're ok. I haven't seen anything that suggests to me they are more reliable than other pvs though. They have the same Vamo/Zmax chip. The thread you linked to is discussing the Sigelei telescoping Zmax - quite a few people happy with them. I had read the thread and commented there before - if you read it you'll see that. Haven't tried the telescope myself. There other Zmaxs and that thread is only discussing a new kind that telescopes. At this moment am vaping a Vamo I've had for 6 months and have used heavily. There have not been many problems with Vamos - a few yes. The main issue was when the V2 Vamos came out and needed a better spring. That's been changed for the better long ago now. Personally I don't like having the battery exposed like the Tesla does, but some people like the look. I wasn't putting it down, but it doesn't need to be oversold either. It is what it is.

OP asked mainly about Lavatuve and Vamo and VW - so of those two, only the Vamo has VW.

I realize you weren't bad mouthing the Tesla, sorry if I came of the wrong way. I also understand what the op was asking about. I was just giving him what I honestly believe to be a better choice. Actually a lot more people own the Tesla than you think. They just don't post here. I've have talked and have been talking to a number of them. I'd have to check my email but I believe the number is now around 27. Out of those numbers only 3 had to be returned and none of the remaining owners reported any problems with their Tesla. The only problems I could find were here and on one or two other forums. I really don't think I'm over selling the Tesla after all of the research I've done. I realize that they all have the same chip, but the build quality does seem to be better or at the very least more consistent.

Btw- I'm glad your Vamo is working out for you. :)

I'm glad you like it. There can't really be comparison here - the Vamo alone has sold in the thousands. And is still selling. You can't really compare 27 of one against thousands of another and then say the Tesla is more reliable. That's all I'm saying really. Its reliable, but I wouldn't say it more reliable. You'd need a lot more research before you could make that claim. It really doesn't matter to me which the person buys. We didn't even have all these mods available just over a year ago. Many of them do have the 33.33hz chip and are the same in that regard. I think you're pleased with yours. You have a good user experience - which is good.
Like I said - the exposed battery with the Tesla is what I don't like. Others do like it. Its a difference in form factor that people go for with the Tesla. I'm likewise glad you enjoy yours. Its good to have the different choices actually.
