I recently saw this little mech mod (the Le Petite Gros) and instantly became enamored by it. I have not gotten into unreg mods yet but feel I'm ready. Any way some vendors have this mod paired with a hobo rda which I'm cool with but I do wonder, and am asking the community for feedback on this, if anyone knows for sure or not if a mini Madhatter rda will work with this mod. Its an 18350 deal and the rda 22mm . So in theory it showed pair up nicely but this le Petite jawn as has recessed top that doesnt make it a guarantee. Just wondering if anyone has any direct experience with this mod?

It's a hybrid, so it's mandatory that you use a topper that has a slightly protruding center positive pin so that it can make contact with the battery while the surrounding 510 connector does not. That topper's pin should also not be sprung so that the pin stays protruding from the connector. The issue with hybrids like this is the potential for a hard short and venting if both the pin and connector surrounding it contact the positive end of your battery. One should be absolutely sure their connection is good when using a hybrid such as this to avoid possible accidents.

I had a clone which came combined with a Hobo clone and it was a bit of a mixed bag. I found the bottom button binding a bit if you didn't hit it just right, and the part that rises up surrounding the topper has a sharp edge. It is pretty stealthy though. I ended up keeping the Hobo and passing on the Petite Gros.

It's a faux hybrid and I personally wouldn't have one. An authentic one is sold with a topper that is alleged to be safe with them. I don't know how true that is. Anything used on it must have a well protruding and immobile positive center pin, or it's a pipe bomb. Bear in mind also 18350 batteries don't have anything near the amp ratings of 18650 batteries. The brst I have found are the AW 800mAh ones, rated 12 amp CDR, I personally wouldn't coil that below about .8 ohms. I haven't any idea what attys would fit in the tube above the faux hybrid plate. There was an authentic with the topper flogged on the classies here a few months back. I like 350 mods, and that's a cool one. But no, not with that top plate, thanks. I passed.

Thankyou, like I said Im preparing to endeavor into mech mods for first time. It wont be today and not exactly sure when I'll purchase one but appreciate the advice. I understand what you mean about protruding positive pin preventing the ground 510 connecting coming in contact with the battery. What confused me and I hope you can elaborate is what did you mean when you said "topper's pin should also not be sprung so that the pin stays protruding from the connector"

Thankyou, some things to consider here. Im not ready to purchase just yet so I'll do more research

Wow... Well, the Hobo is an excellent RDA, so that would be a good combo. I was going to suggest throwing a Derringer on it, but after doing a few measurements I don't think that would work. It looks like the airholes on the Derringer would end up inside the recessed area... never used the Madhatter, so I'll just leave it at what I've already said. I love my Hobo RDA and you'd do well with it. Only down-side is the battery life on the little 18350, and the fact that you'll have to make sure to keep your resistance within tolerance for those batteries. Definitely not a cloud-chasing set-up...

Hey thank you for your response. Just to follow up I settled on the Joytech Cuboid. It has a bigger battery and can handle low ohms.

Nice choice! I've heard some good things about the Cuboid. It should serve you well and leave you with plenty of room to grow as you progress down your own personal vape path. :)
