I know this is probably a stupid question but is it ok? for months? still sealed in the box...I'm guessing it was manufactured in the fall judging from the batch #...

I bought a backup aspire breeze after dropping mine in the parking lot yesterday. it's ok, a couple scratches but the thing is rock solid.

I told the vape shop guy I probably wouldn't open it for months. he said I shouldn't let it sit for too long or it could be bad for the batteries.

now I'm thinking of opening it and just swapping back and fourth but i would rather not..

Well, that's not probably long enough to have affected the batteries, honestly. Usually these things are sent out partially charged, as batteries store better that way. I think you would be fine using it and unlike an external battery mod, the longer you let it sit, the longer the batteries will (slowly) decay away.

I had a setup from several years ago that was an internal battery stick, and I charged it and used it (briefly) and it still worked okay. I didn't really use it for long (it was fixed wattage, not my thing these days) but I'd say you should probably use it sooner rather than later, honestly. So now would be a good time to use it, that's why you purchased a backup I am assuming?

Lithium batteries are like lead acid in that if they get too depleted they stop working and can’t be recharged. They should lose charge very very slowly in the box but the thing was at least a month old when you bought it. Possibly much more. If you opened it, recharged it and just put it back in the box it would likely be good for a year or more

Hi and welcome. LiIon batteries are usually considered best for long term storage at half charge, and they should last for some months at room temperature with no drain on them. But don't let them go completely flat. I think, if it were mine-- it wouldn't be; I don't use fixed battery mods and this is part of the reason why-- I'd probably put it in the rotation.

I bought a backup aspire breeze after dropping mine in the parking lot yesterday. it's ok, a couple scratches but the thing is rock solid.

If I was you, I would open it up and use it a little to Make Sure it works right. A Backup is No Good if you pull it out only to find it's DOA.

You also want to do it for the Warrantee. Not sure how long your Warrantee is? But after it is Up, it is Up.

Once you know that it is OK, if you want to store it, I'd put it back in the Box with about 2/3 of a charge on it. Then set a Reminder in something like Outlook to check on it ever 30 or 45 days or so.

I have a couple of Built in Batter Mods. And each has a backup. I use them for On-the-Go Mods for about a Month or so. Then I put them in the Drawer and use the Backup(s) for a Month. Then repeat the process.
