Leaving Juice in Tanks for extended periods of time....

I've left juice in a tank for months. Turned black but, amazingly still tasted good. Problem is it also stained the tank, both glass and SS. Lesson learned, I don't allow juice to ferment in my tanks any more.
Technically VG and PG are both used in food preservation, VG is ok by itself on metals. The longest I left mine was in RTA for about 2 months max VG, in the corner of my work table (in the dark), all was ok.
The Problem I have seen is the e-Liquid tends to get Thick if you leave it in a Tank for a Long Time. And the Cotton tends to turn into a Semi-Gelatinous Sticky Non-Wicking Glob.
Yes, they get thick and the flavors get gummy, bad gummy! I left juice in a carto tank too long and it killed the 510 connector on a mod. I've left it in drippers too long and had to scrub the bejezus to get them clean! Juice will turn acidic after a few months, just fyi.
Yeah, it gets gummy and unvapeable. And, usually, the juice will oxidize: it gets darker and the nicotine gets peppery.
High VG juice, even if it's kept in the dark, will absorb a lot of water, with obvious negative effects.
I've had juice in a tank go bad as quickly as a week. I assume that's because I use very little flavor in some of my juices, so they're at 95% VG.
It depends on the tank, too. Some allow more air in than others. I have a Calyx that keeps juice in perfect condition for months. It's weird.

Anything left in a tank for more than a week, and I'll wash it out before I use it again. It's probably OK to vape, but why?
