Lemonade liquid and tanks

I've been a lurker here for a while, basically due to not having much to add. Today I found out something that may be able to keep someone else from making the same mistake I did.

I recently purchased some lemonade flavored liquid (not sure if I should say where from). Anyway, I put some in my tank yesterday morning and enjoyed vaping it all day. Today when I went to refill the tank, I found that the plastic end caps were very mushy on the inside, and had been partially eaten away by the liquid to the point where the inside of the tank was black where it had made contact and I wound up with black on my fingers. The plastic tank itself seems fine.

I have heard of cinnamon flavors cracking that plastic tanks but I haven't heard anything about lemonade flavors causing any problems. In retrospect I probably should have known the acidity would be a problem.

The clear plastic tank seems fine. It's the plastic end caps that melted. Looking around I just found some aluminum end caps-- I may try those. I should check if the O-rings were affected as well.

Some parts of tanks are made with a soft spongy and absorbent plastic/ rubber and these parts, in my experience are to be avoided. I owned a tank recently that had a side feed hole with a soft rubber plug that was literally eaten to pieces by the juice. Shame cuz I loved the tank.

Edit: the tank above never had any citrus or acidic juices in it.

It's basically citric acid or cinnamon that are worst for plastics.

It is not the manufacturer of the juices, although it would be nice if they did some testing and informed customers!

there are known e-liquids that are bad for tanks and plastic parts in general including drip-tips.

I will definitely refer to the info there before making another juice purchase. I'm a big fan of tanks.

You might want to try out the vivi nova 2.5, Metal top and bottom, tank that won't crack, metal tank tubes available, you can use any drip tip and replaceable innards.

It doesn't have a separate carto in it. This is a clearomizer type of tank that's been getting great feedback as to taste, etc.

It's a wick and element in a plastic or metal tank with NO filler.

That's an interesting set up. Maybe I'll go to that somewhere down the line-- right now I'm sitting on about 50 cartomizers of various resistance.
