After seeing all the hype about how great SI is with customer service and placing a few orders with them myself (and I was quite pleased with them up till now) I am sorry to say they have let me down and I will now be going elsewhere. I ordered a spinner about a month ago and was very happy with it up till a few days ago when I noticed the finish is flaking off of it, I remember seeing a thread on here about the same thing not long ago so I know I am not the first customer with this problem. My spinner sits on a table standing on end next to my recliner... never even leaving my house so I know this is not from abuse or over use or any fault of my own. I submitted a ticket asking for it to be replace and this is the response I got...

Ticket ID: GKD-27485
Kevin, After asking my boss about this (since I have never had someone want to return the battery for the finish), he has told me that we do not warranty the finish on the battery- only the actually components of the battery. All the best, Heather

With best regards,

I can't say I fault Smokeless Image for this. Seems like normal wear and tear on the device to me? I could see if it came to you beat up and scratched up with the finish flaking off, but you yourself stated that you've had the device for nearly a month? These are products of China afterall. Just sayin'

Really?? I expected some flaming from someone who is a SI cheerleader but a month of light use sitting upright not even on the paint and this is normal wear and tear??? Now I will admit I like their products and I wish they had stood behind their products better than this but this is NOT normal wear and tear. If you bought a car and the paint flaked off in a month would you say well you drove it for a month that is normal cause you was out on the roads?

Okay, so now what? Only a month of use on the device and a blemish.

I'll give you $14 plus shipping for it.
If the warranty is 3 months then you used it for 1/3 of it's warrantied life.
So add my $14 to the 1/3 use you had...$12.00 and we are at $26. Subtract the $36.00 RRP and and you are out $10.00. Not really a day killer.... Is it?

PM for address
Good luck
Have fun

No I never said my day was killed, I also never said it no longer worked. You can keep your $14 and your advice and I will keep my spinner and when I am out and someone ask me about it now instead of saying yeah get it at SI, I will say I like it and if you don't care that the paint may come off and look trashy then order it at SI.

This is why I only buy the stainless steel models. No finish to worry about. I bought two blue Twists a while back, and when the finish started rubbing off and flaking due to the oils on my hands interacting with the finish, I just took a piece of sand paper and took the rest off in about 5 minutes.

I don't see how the finish could "flake off" if its not a stainless steel or gold model. All the rest have the rubberized finish, and if that's flaking of its from wear and tear. It would mean the rubber is tearing. Also, you stated you never take it out of the house, so that would mean there would be no one to see it when you're "out and about", so that seems to be a moot point. I've put 4 x2's and 2 spinners through and good bit and I've never seen the finish start to come off. Not saying it isn't happening, but several parts of your story just aren't adding up.

I agree Dac311 I have black volt cigalikes and they are a rubbery finish, this spinner is blue, a really thin coat of blue and underneath the blue is the shiny stainless version. The problem (for anyone who has painted anything) is there is no scuffing of the metal and there appears to be no primer thus allowing the paint to flake off. With spaceballsrules post I now know of a couple others with this problem and that I am not alone. My problem with this whole ordeal is the fact that SI also knows about this problem (I know of atleast one other on this forum that was told to make a ticket) and is not standing behind their product. OK before the next flame, yeah it's only one $25 spinner, but will I buy anything else here when the first problem I have they tell me oh that's not covered even though it has a 3 month warranty.

I am sorry you are upset. This is not a known problem...we sell 10's of thousands of batts with the rubber finish and the only times we have seen the paint flake off is when there has been friction to the paint..usually against other metal. This is also illustrated in the reply from heather...that this is not a known problem. That being said our warranty does only apply to the electrical components of the batteries and chargers..against defects. However... If it is under 30 days we do have a no questions asked money back guarantee. If you contacted CS within 30 days of receipt of the battery. Please advise heather of this policy or pm me the the ticket number.

I am sorry if you are still unsatisfied with this response...however there is no way for us to warranty the finish and prevent everyone who scratches their batt from getting a brand new replacement...people may even scratch them on purpose to get a free new batt. We are already very liberal with our returns.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Make me number 4. My blue spinner is also peeling. I have a blue ego twist that is around six months old and it's fine, but my blue Volt Spinner is peeling. My purple spinner has a couple of tiny peel marks on it, but still looks O.K. My blue one is starting to look pretty bad. It definitely doesn't feel as "rubberry" as my X2s. I wouldn't recommend buying a blue spinner at this point!

just to add abit more about doing art work on the blue spinners...I went through my vape cupboard ...and found some silver glitter wraps...I brought from si..when I was putting wraps on my 65s...as my blue spinner is only showing peeling, flaking ..just under the button... the boarder of the silver wrap...I cut a line off...which looks lovely...as the wraps are not big enough..for the spinner...maybe for those who have..scratched all the paint off...being creative.. with the wraps..si carry lots of designs ...use them to cut out shapes..endless possibilities:)
