Let's be honest, smoking cigarettes is far cheaper than vaping!

Yeah, I was gonna say, why test a batch of ejuice you just made? If you followed the recipe, you already know how much nicotine is in it! I mean... DUH!

My only real qualms with that thinking are as follows...

1) as stated, if flavored there's a good chance you'll not get an accurate reading as the regents rely heavily on discerning very translucent colors in diluted liquid

2) if you're not comfortable enough with math to hit your target nic level when starting with a known level in your base, it's going to be a bear calculating your nic levels for testing purposes once you've reached your target color in your regent

Right now i've spending more money daily then i did smoking. I just started a few months ago and i bought alot of stuff to find out what works for me. Now i found what i like and haven't been spending as much on vaping. in around a month ill be spending less money daily than smokes(on average) as long as i don't buy any more mods/tanks.

There is no need for personal insults, nor your attempt to play amateur psychologist with fellow members. I am very frugal in fact. If you took the time to read through the thread before insulting me, you would see that I have since learned just how inexpensive vaping can be, thanks to the very nice members here who have offered me guidance. In fact I am sitting here vaping on my $80 second hand provari and some dirt cheap Dekang RY4 right now.

I apologize for coming off in a way that seemed condescending or insulting to you and anyone else on this board, but as someone that switched to vaping for the primary purpose of saving money, you're initial post was taken pretty much the same way by me.

We understand each other now. Peace, and vape onward.

Math?!?!?! I don't need no stinkin' math! I've got this:

Obviously I don't use the "drops" since none of them have correct entries for # of drops. But notice how that 60ml of ejuice is well under $10, even with that very expensive WTA in there, along with the rather expensive Shisha Strawberry at 16%. :D

More expensive than smoking, my hind leg. ;)

It's only "wrong" if the intention was to quit smoking in order to save money. That's not the case for many of us. I could afford to smoke. I can also afford to vape however I want to. For me, vaping isn't any cheaper than smoking, but its far more enjoyable and rewarding. So, is it "bad financial decisions" that placed me in a position to buy and use what I want? I think it's the exact opposite. I built a successful business.... many long hours and hard work to get where I am financially. What an arrogant and assuming post you made there.

If the title of the thread was "Vaping is more expensive than smoking, and I don't care" I could understand your point, but the tone of the thread was that the OP had an issue with the cost of vaping. I'm glad you can spend what you want on whatever you want, but again, the intent of the thread didn't seem to be in that vein.

Peace to you too.

Well...

Technically...

The measure of a volume of liquid is a mathematical procedure regardless if the calculations are done for you.

True... but *I* didn't have to do that math! That's the only kind of math I like!!! :D

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, I don't know how the OP vapes, but keep in mind that the higher wattage you vape, the more joos you're gonna consume.

I'm unemployed at the moment and I vape ALL DAY (not happy about it). I vape at an average of 17 watts and go through 6-10ml per day. I get my joos cheaper than most. But if I was buying 10ml at B&M prices, that would be expensive. Probably about $10/10ml so that's $6-$10/day

Anyway, I tried vaping at 25-30W a couple months ago. At that wattage level I easily would go through at least triple the amount of joos I normally would at 17 watts. Minimum $18 to $30/day, maybe more!

btw how do those banners calculate how much you save are they even accurate?

The banner is an average -- when did you stop smoking, how many cigarettes did you smoke a day and how much did a pack cost you? The banner does the math (yeah - another calculation I don't have to deal with!!).

I like looking every once in a while at how much I've saved not buying cigarettes ($5.1k and more since the price has gone up since I started vaping) but even better is avoiding 12,778 cigarettes in 1 yr, 9 months. That's just amazing to me.

As was said they just calculate how much you said you smoked, the price of smokes you enter and length of time. That's why I've kept track of what I spent on vaping. Mine is not totally accurate either because my vaping cost includes what it cost to make juice for myself, my wife and one of my son's. I've actually spent less than I have listed on my banner on myself.

In general.

But not necessarily.

I vape @ 80 watts and consume approx 5ml/day.

I take relatively short pulls to get a good mouth and lung fill and I put it down when I get my nic fix. My hand/mouth needs are satiated with that. So I'm good to go.

Sure but I assume it makes the assumption that you will continue to consume nicotine at the same rate that you did before when smoking ie one pack of cigs = 1 pack worth of Nicotine. Obviously the cost of that '1 Pack worth nicotine' fluctuates massively according to multiple factors like the how strong your eliquid is, how much do they say your body then absorbs of that nicotine, and what is the cost of that e juice.

    Andria,

I just made the plunge into DIY. Placed an order from Wizard Labs for 500 ml of 48 mg nic base, PG and VG (which will yield me 4 liters of 6 mg), and a boat load of flavors. Spent less than $200.

My "retail" juice I purchase online and in large 120 ml sizes (since it's cheaper) and each 120 ml bottle runs me between $60 and $70. These are not the discount, made to order juices like MBV, Vista Vapors, ITC, etc. so they are more expensive and are the "name brands" sold in B&M's. If I was to get 4 liters worth, it would cost me well over $2,000. If I was to purchase that juice one 15 or 30 ml bottle at a time in a B&M, it would cost over $3,000.

OR, you could mix it yourself for about 6c/ml ($24) by buying 100mg nic base ($50/liter)
PG&VG by the gallon ($20/gallon), flavoring concentrates ($3.95/10ml).

Where many are getting taken to the cleaners is with the flavorings by buying flavoring diluted with PG or VG. You're paying 10 times the price for that PG or VG.

The first part of my post said that I had purchased enough DIY supplies to make 4 liters of juice and it cost me less than $200 (I'm being conservative because I might need to get more flavoring).
