A Riva kit from Liberty Flights for $34 (the one with Boge cartos) CAN make people quit. Those batteries are 3.7v 750mah batts that provide a hearty taste and vapor. Specifying LR cartos with that is the key point.

Quitting is a decision. vaping helps to reinforce that decision. If you don't want to quit, then you will continue to do both. It doesn't take a $150 mod to quit cigarettes.

People spend big bucks trying to find the right juice. 3ml samples can cut that expenditure considerably. One person's favorite won't usually be another's. You just have to experiment until a flavor becomes your daily vape.

I'd say most people spend over $100 to find the right combination, but there are people who quit the first day with an eGo or Riva and never look back. It's easy to find the right vape if you spend what you used to spend smoking tobacco ... and it's healthier to vape. Eventually, you will spend less.

Agreed, The right combination of hardware and juice definitely make a HUGE difference. I'm a first day quitter here. eGo kit and Butter Rum (11mg) from Evapers. ;) That was almost 18 months ago..

P.S - Those eGo batts are still going strong. I use them everyday when on my way to work and back.

Hehe, well ya, some do :) When they do, it's easy to see the real costs. You almost spent the same amount. Saved $500, sure, but still spent 85% of what you have if you still smoked.

True, however, what is not mentioned is that the total reflects 4 complete starter kits and juices that were gifted to others (I tend to buy in bulk!) and 4 other starter kits and juices that I tinkered with on my own before passing forward to others. And add to that, I've got enough juice and supplies to see me through at least until the beginning of March before I'll have to open my pocketbook again. By then, my total saved (saved from not smoking minus total spent) should be well over $1K. No complaints here.

$200 in the first month? Maybe $100, give or take another $25 for shipping. Once you get the set up hardware it's way more cheaper than smoking.

It's not like buying a printer. Where they lore you in with a cheap start up cost and then bone you on the cost of ink forever.

And once you know you're going to keep vaping you can have another set up cost of buying nic juice and DIY stuff.

I think a lot of people just go nutty with the typical consumerism from the get go. I need the "best" status symbol with all the bells and whistles.

I don't think anyone can talk me out of getting those slim e-cigs when I was just starting. I got my first kits from a convenience store. One is a two-piece and the other is three-piece type. I was impressed initially and my interest in slim types didn't end there. I then bought one more cig look-alike and threee types of penstyles online which included the 510. Unfortunately, I focused on the wrong parts, which were the tank types, ie, 901-T, 801-T, 510-T. And all of them except one were auto batt types. Included also in those kits were the Ego-Ts as curiousity devices. They all worked initially but the constant refilling and leaking became unbearable issues.

So if I were to buy kits from a starting point based on experience, I'd just have gone to one kit of cig look-alike such as 901 (probably 808 equivalent) with lots of 2.0 ohm Boge cartomizers or equivalent. Then buy the e-juice I like and started learning how to make my own. Such kit will last a long time if you don't mind the constant recharging. The refilling is not much of an issue unlike the other alternatives. (But I've already upgraded to mods with removable batteries precisely because of those constant recharging issues.)

Keep in mind you've wandered into the Canadian forum. Prices are bit more up here. We can order internationally, but I don't advise it for new people because of issues with customs. If they do, they need to do their research on vendors and how reliable they are are getting into the country.

A lot of my start up costs were trying out different cartos and atomizers. Kind of like striking it rich if you just so happen to buy the perfect set up right from the get go.

I dont recall anybody on here ever claiming that vaping was cheap. The only person i heard that from was the salesman at the mall kiosk where i spent 200 bucks for a piece of crap that i only used for 2 weeks. It can be cheaper or it can be more expensive, its up to you. And myself, I like it when people go into detail about the flavors of juices. The more descriptive the better.

Maybe you just need a hug or something.

I tend to agree with the first post with some parts. At first it is more expensive to get set up and i am still looking for the rigut juice.i to spent close to $300.00 to get started and have only been vapeing 31 days but now it should and will get less expensive. When i was smoking i was only paying $18.00 a cartoon so in 31 days i would have spent around $72.00.On the positive side no more morning coughing spells and if you happen to get into a few to may cold ones you don't fell like you have been run over by a steam roller the next morning (this what i have been told). But ice fishing season is here could be bad. Tux1.

Well if your hellbent oncartos ya but I hate cartos and rarely recommended them I always recommended atties as I feel they last longer I have 10$ atties last me 3-4 months if not misused paired with an ego passghrouhg and u can get 2 of each for about 75$ lasted me over a year. Finding juice I liked was more expensive. I do see what your saying but try recommending a 200 dollar mod to a new guy. I wish when I first started someone just said buy a reo but in all honesty I would of still got a crappy 510 to start

As the original poster I should apologize for going off like a mad man. I went off the deep end, swam back and jumped back in again lol. I have watched these forums for almost a year before signing up.I then signed up 9 months ago to try and answer 1 persons question that had been ignored for days. After signing up I found out I couldn't help this person because I wasn't authorized to post. So i went back to "creeping" as they call it lol. So now I have been posting here and there over the last couple weeks and find myself getting angry over the advice given. My rant is my rant and I apologize if it offends anyone(also for repeating myself and run on sentences). But the fact is that most of this community sits by and doesn't help anyone. They just tell everyone what mod they r using. Mods suck for newbies so why mention them?.Just tell them the truth. It's gonna take a couple hundred bucks investment to secure your healthier future. I'd also like to thank those with a different opinon. And everyone else that decided to post on this mess of a rant gone wrong lol. Sometimes I get so worked up I repeat myself and don't use punctuation lol.

One of my first kits was an Ego (2 batts) with 510 atty and 5 cartridges. Man, how can you put up with constant refilling issues? Atomizers last longer, I agree, but they're designed for people who stay at home most of the time. Cartomizers DO last a bit depending on the juice you put in it, and they're about a dollar apiece. So I'd still go for cartos, instead of attys and cartridges.

Bluesmaster, the problem is that each of us can only give personal advice (testemonials, really) on devices and juices that we have personally tried and used. That said, everyone's vaping 'advice' is subjective...there is definitely not a 'one size fits all' mode because each person has their own particular list of needs where vaping is concerned. For some, start up cost may be a big issue....maybe it's best to advise that they save up a bit first before plunging ahead and making a purchase, however, if there is an immediate need to stop analogs because of an imminent medical concern, my advice may be to go ahead and start off with something that you can afford NOW and upgrade later when you are able.

Again, everyone's needs are different and it's important to take that into consideration.

Blues, I've always found this forum an exceptionally helpful place, specially our little corner (Canada Forum) in it. Are you referring to the New Members Forum. It can get kinda insane there and yes, not all answers are helpful but there is a ton of information on there as well.

In a forum of 77000 people, there's bound to be superfluous information, and it can sometimes seem like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack at times but I do sincerely believe that most people are on here to assist new smokers find their way. It's just that there are so many "ways" to achieve vape nirvana.

I am not sure how or even if to respond to the OP. I for one am still using the 510 I got originally and a blu kit I got for Christmas. I like them both. They have kept me off analogs since Nov 18th and I've never looked back. I have ordered some juice out but I actually don't mind the juice my local guy has here. I've spent WAY less than I would have on Ciggs. I've read the forums and seen all the posters with their high dollar stuff and albeit I will probably try a higher end device at some stage, what I have works for "ME". Would it work for you? I dunno and as you don't care.

I read here that what we give is personal experiences. This is true. The more information anyone has about anything the better. So you spent all that money ok so be it. I didn't and won't till I've saved enough vaping I can honestly afford to do that. I can also say 3 other people I've introduced into vaping have quit or seriously cut back normal ciggs, either with a 510 or blu kit. Is it the vaping monster of the big dogs? OF COURSE NOT...but it was what could be afforded at the time (the local walgreens has the blu's here in stock now for 50 bucks) Could one have done something else cheaper?? maybe but this was available NOW and these guys were like me, needed the analog "look and feel and draw".

I wish everyone well and a happy new year on the forums. I personally have gotten a lot of good ideas here and some that don't apply to me. It's what we'll all get. I think someone said maybe you need a hug, well she's probably right. LOL. At any rate good luck to you and happy new year.

Regards,
Deach

I guess I'm the only person who really liked the first flavor I started with! When I found ECF, that's when the big spending started. But I spend the most on mod building. I sell juice to alot of my lazy buddies so I really dont spend much on juice at all. I actually profit off my juice purchases. They all know where I get my juices from, but they choose to buy it from me....go figure!
